Depending on which scheme you've chosen to view, you may or may not instantly see the full extent of the recent changes done. Well, on the heels of the announcement of a NEW Command & Conquer game coming our way, we have taken the time to do some changes on the forums that are far from due! Let's see if I can cover everything:
Probably the most major change is the introduction of two new forum schemes! These two are based on CNCDEN, and so for people who prefer a green-based colour layout. There are two versions of this scheme as usual: CNCDEN Scheme 1 concentrating on lighter text on dark backgrounds while CNCDEN Scheme 2 is for people who prefer darker text on a light background. CNCDEN Scheme 1 has also taken over from RADEN Scheme 1 as the default scheme for the forums, so many of you probably already got a shock when visiting. ;)
On a related note: RADEN Scheme 1 and RADEN Scheme 2 has been altered a bit in tendum. Shading and contrast differences between light and dark have been improved, and gradient images has been added to table headers. They're more usable now than they were in the past.
A slight rearrangement of the forum sections themselves has been done as well. There is a brand new forum available: Announcements which will be used by us staff if we wish to post news about the forums (such as this one. ;) ) Only staff may start topics in this section, but all members can reply to the topics posted. This will replace the use of the old announcement system we used as it didn't allow any way for members to comment on it. We do value your input.
Finally, in the most comprehensive change we've done: All hacks from the MODDEN Schemes have been made available on the RADEN, PETRODEN and new CNCDEN Schemes! That's right! Lion has relaxed the 'no-hack' restriction allowing me to implement most of the new features and cool stuff MODDEN Scheme users have enjoyed for a long time now onto the other schemes thus expanding their member-base. Here's a quick rundown of the major hacks in no particular order:
Reputation System: This is actually a standard vBulletin feature that's only been enabled on the MODDEN Schemes for a while now. With these expansions, the system is now available on every scheme. However, due to it's rather controversial nature and the extreme opinions voiced on this system by members, you now have the option to Hide Your Reputation Level (http://forums.cncden.com/profile.php?do=editoptions) completely. Members will still be able to rate your posts, but you will be oblivious to what's happening until you decide to take part again. For more information on how the reputation system works, read the FAQ (http://forums.cncden.com/faq.php?faq=vb_board_usage#faq_faq_vb_reputation_explain).
Statistics: A very comprehensive statistics center displaying everything from top threads/forums to regional and computer information for members. Access it through the new Statistics (http://forums.cncden.com/stats.php?do=home) link in the top navigation bar.
v3 Arcade: Probably the most popular hack we have. This games center allows you to play built-in forum flash games ranging from classics like Snake, Asteroids and Breakout to more unique games like Alchemy, Alien Homind and Mini Putt! The scores you get in games are tagged onto your forum membership and are added to the High Score list if good enough. You can even challange another member in a one-on-one contest for the higher score! To access the Arcade, click on the Arcade (http://forums.cncden.com/arcade.php?categoryid=-1) link under the Entertainment menu in the navigation bar.
DGN Radio: In the mood for some music? Check out our streaming music center and it's wide variety of channels! If you know of an open streaming station that is not available in the radio, feel free to suggest it's addition to the staff. The radio is also available under the Entertainment menu.
Pager: If Private Messaging isn't quick enough for your tastes, you can now contact members via a 'Pager'! In a similer way to instant messaging programs like MSN and ICQ, the pager allows quick communication between members that they are more likely to notice. Pager messages pop up on your screen when someone sends one to you, and you can respond in there without ever leaving the original forum page you were on. You can add users to your own 'contact list', building up a group of members you want to see and you can choose to Only accept incoming pagers from your contacts (http://forums.cncden.com/profile.php?do=editoptions) (like MSN). For those people who value their privacy, they can choose to turn off the Pager system entirely (http://forums.cncden.com/profile.php?do=editoptions). To open the main pager center, click on the new 'Open Pager' link in the Quick Links menu in the navigation bar.
Spambox: To help relieve those dumb/spammy urges you may have that you probably shouldn't post anywhere on the main forum; a Spambox has been provided for you at the bottom of the main index page (or at the top if you're on the MODDEN Schemes). Think of this like an IRC chatroom or a group conversation in MSN with everyone else on the forum. However, there are specific rules (http://forums.cncden.com/rules.php) to using the Spambox, so be sure you're aware of them before posting in it.
Custom Smilie Maker: Tired of our built-in smilies? Make your own using our Custom Smilie Maker (http://forums.cncden.com/customsmilie.php) and stick them in your posts!
Miscellaneous: Downloading threads to text files, avatar display on the member bar, which scheme members are using and flags displayed in posts, timezone images and number of profile views in profiles, plus many other littler enhancements have been made.Enjoy!
