Writing Competition!

Here's the deal:

Everyone who enters, start a thread (with 'Comp:' in the thred title) in FanFiction. In this thread you'll write a story, between 1,000 to 3,000 words long. The story can be about anything you want, but MUST be all your own work. It should also be NEW writing (not something you just have lying around).

The contest will be up for a month (so until 15th March, lets say) and then winners will be decided by a poll. Also VOES and I will be judging entries for our 'special recommendation' prizes.

Some guidelines:

*Be original. Don't just retell a game you once played or something. Doesn;t mean you can't base your story on a game, just make sure something out of the ordinary happens.

*Use strong, distinguished characters. Characters with a lot of character, you might say.

*Spell-check it all - Use your best grammar, and please post speech on a new line. Break the writing up, so it's easier and more pleasurable to read.

*You can go above or below the word limit *within reason*. We just don't want ten line wonders or whole fraggin' novels.

*Make sure your piece is finished by the closing date.

hehe, this reminds me of that story contest we had a while ago where we had to incorporate a bunch of random things- like a ten gallon hat, a pink toothbrush, etc- that was good fun :D I still think my story was the best **shakes fist at TAG**

I do remember reading those, either just before or just after I registered. I laughed so hard when I read TAG's, and another one too which could have been yours :D

Is that really fair, though? I mean, is it just your vote and such or is it a general vote? 'Cause if it's a general vote then popularity may play a part in it.

A general vote - And yes, we know popularity will play a part in it, no matter how much we don't want it to. No real way around that, other than to say 'Don't let what you think of the authore get in the way, think of the story' :p.

Also VOES and I are giving secondary awards based on our opinions of the overall story quality.

I'm in, but my story has 3600 characters (not including spaces.)... can I enter it in anyway? I've showed the story to an actual Sci Fi Writer already, and she likes it... I had to modify the end of it to make it have an ending... of course,the story will be longer...

Thanks Wes! My story is on the way! And I just think that anyone who writes a story shouldn't vote for anyone, or at least make it so that they can't vote for themselves if its a pole.
