DGNF Upgraded to vBulletin v3.6

It's been months, but I successfully remembered how to upgrade this thing! As this is a major upgrade, there's the usual "don't fret if you see some glitches, broken images, formatting issues etc. etc." Although if you could post in this thread anything you do spot that's a bit off that can help me in my quests to get everything back up and running again.

Give me time to get all the hacks back up and running, but because this is a major upgrade, there's a lot of new cool things for you guys to play around with in the mean time! Most of this info comes from this (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=186803) forum thread at the official vBulletin forums. But I've copied the main bits here and pretty images just because I'm that nice. :p

Multi-Quote
The multi-quote feature allows users to tag multiple posts that they wish to respond to by clicking a small button on each post. Once the user clicks the reply button, each tagged post is quoted.

To increase usability, by default, only posts within the current thread are automatically quoted. If you wish to quote posts in other threads with multi-quote, you simply need to click a link on the reply page, and the text of those posts will be added without a reload.

http://files.vbulletin.com/3.6/multiquote-k.png

Mark Forums Read with AJAX
If you wish to mark a forum read, you can simply click its status icon on the index page and the change will be processed without a reload. You can even mark individual sub-forums as read in the same way.

http://files.vbulletin.com/3.6/markforumread.png

Quote Tags Link to Quoted Post
When quoting a post, the ID of the post is automatically included with the [quote] tag. When the quoted text is viewed in a thread, a small icon links back to the quoted post.

Example:
I got Post #1337. :D:D

New Buddy/Ignore List Editor Saves with AJAX
Along with a new interface, your buddy and ignore lists are saved with AJAX to prevent an unnecessary reload. Additionally to make the interface even easier to use, vBulletin searches for matching users as you type their names.

Private Message Preview in Notification Emails
If you have elected to receive emails when receiving a new private message, the email will now contain more than just the name of the user who sent you the message. The title and body of the message will be included. Any BB codes in the message will automatically be converted to an equivalent plaintext version using the new plaintext bbcode parser.

Example output might look like this:

Dear MooMan65,

You have received a new private message at the Den Games Network Forums from TQ, entitled "I Submit To You!".

This is the message that was sent:
***************
Okay. I admit it. You are God. I must help you test this.

All the best,
Den Games Network Forums

Auto-Resize Oversized Image Attachments
If a user attaches an image that has dimensions larger than we allow, the image will automatically resized to fit. This is similar to the auto-resizing of avatars that vBulletin 3.5 performed.

‘Reason for Editing’ Available on Quick Edit
You may now include a reason for editing without having to click through to the full editor.

http://files.vbulletin.com/3.6/reasonforedit.png

Unique Unsubscribe Link in Emails
Thread and forum subscription emails now include a link for unsubscribing that is unique to each user. When using this link, unsubscribing from a thread or forum no longer requires logging in.

Save Search Preferences with AJAX
Changing your search preferences on the advanced search page no longer requires a page reload.

Infraction System
Now I'm sure you're all aware of the Warning System we have in place. This was a hack we installed quite a while ago to allow us staff to have a monetary and archivable way of reprimanding you guys if you broke the rules. Now, vBulletin has made it's own Warning System built in to the program, calling it the 'Infraction System'. I've successfully converted our current Warning data in to this new system, and on your end you shouldn't need to worry about the differences; just don't break the rules and you'll never have to experience it. :p

Rate Threads with AJAX
Rating a thread can be done without a page reload now. Rate a thread like you normally would, but when you submit the rating, you’ll get a notification that your rating was accepted (or if it wasn’t) and the new thread rating will instantly appear.

More AJAX Username Auto-Completion
Username auto-completion via AJAX is now performed when editing the buddy/ignore lists, searching the member list, and entering a referrer during registration.

Show Threads or Posts from Quick Search Popup
You can now choose to show search results as threads or posts without having to click through to the advanced search page.

Enhanced Signature Permissions
This new version allows us staff to have much greater control over what you can and can't put in your signatures on a per user-group basis. Controls include basic character count limits (including or excluding BB code), effective line count limits, and limits on individual BB codes (including how large font sizes and images can be). As a result of this, we staff might in the future look at re-enabling image support in signatures for dedicated members (i.e. members over 500 posts) with a size limit to prevent things going overboard like it did previous. Don't hold your breath though. You members can view your signature permissions when you edit your signatures.

http://files.vbulletin.com/3.6/sigperms-frontend-rules.png

With errors if you did not obay them:

http://files.vbulletin.com/3.6/sigperms-bbcode-size-error.png

Uploadable Signature Image Support
If we do enable images again in signatures, it will be handled via a specific BB Code type and page where you can only upload a single image and it must be within size restrictions as shown below.

http://files.vbulletin.com/3.6/sigperms-upload-sigpic.png

Signature pictures are controlled with the [SIGPIC] bbcode allowing them to be placed anywhere within a user's signature.

http://files.vbulletin.com/3.6/sigperms-sig-preview.png

Pop Up List of Attachments in a Thread
The paperclip icon that denotes whether a thread contains attachments is now clickable. It will pop up a window that shows a list of all the attachments in the specified thread, including file size and number of views.

http://files.vbulletin.com/3.6/attachment-list-popup.png

Receive Private Messages from Buddies Only
You may now select to receive private messages only from users on your buddy list. If a non-buddy tries to send you a message, they will receive an error saying that you do not accept private messages.

http://files.vbulletin.com/3.6/pm-buddies-only.png

Give Reputation Using AJAX
Reputation can now be added to a post without leaving the page. When you click the reputation icon on a post, a box will appear and allow you to choose whether you approve or disapprove of the post and provide a reason.

http://files.vbulletin.com/3.6/reputation-ajax.png

Private Messages: Quota Warning
Once you have reached 90% of your private message quota, you will receive a warning telling you that you have almost reached your quota.

http://files.vbulletin.com/3.6/pmquota-email.png

Full BCC Support in Private Messages
Like in an email, BCC (blind carbon-copy) allows you to hide the full list of recipients from each recipient. In previous versions of vBulletin, the “to” field acted like a BCC field. Now, the “to” field acts like the field in an email; each recipient will see all the names in the “to” field.

http://files.vbulletin.com/3.6/pm-bcc.png

Resume Paused Attachment Downloads
You may now resume broken or paused attachment downloads where the browser supports it through the use of the Range HTTP header.

This are a list of the main features you might encounter as you visit and post; there's a lot of new things on the staff end as well, but you don't need to know them. :p

Not really worth taking the forums down for 12 or so hours, but cool anyway. :p

Well I'm sorry. Most of that was converting to the new Infraction System as I had to learn the new table structures from scratch and write my own conversation script to make it work. Sue me. :p

It doesn't state what style each user is using.

Also... I don't like the signatures being so close to the body of the messages. I keep reading signatures now. Noes! A little spacing would be handsome. :p

And here I was last night thinking you might mess up, since you are "rusty". :p

Good job with adding everything succesfully though. :D

Your going to give people infractions if they keep asking what? :p

Oh, and wear is the arcade btw?

/* massacure walks away slowly as Mooman waves his banstick.

Congrats on the upgrade btw, and even more so on the awesome documentation for it. It is nice knowing why the forums were down for such a long time and that it was worth our wait :D

Cool, but please please please please don't enable images in sigs, Moo. One of the best things about the DEN is how uncluttered it is. :)

You made me cry moo! You made me cry, and all for this!

Actually, I was hoping (although I didn't expect it) that we'd had another crash :p IMO, this latest update is actually an example of simply too much stuff, that's crowding the place and being annoying, generally. But some of it's good, I will admit that. (and this is not meant against you for updating, moo, it's just that I feel vB is going in a bad direction... actually, just ignore all the stuff I said, I don't really care, as long as the blue images are made green on CNCDEN 2!)

Too many features sterio??? Clearly you jest. What kind of nerd are you!? :p

Anyhow, I come back from my vacation and all this change has occurred- why, the forum was even proactive enough to remind me...

Hello Toxic10x. It appears that you have not posted on our forums in several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member in any one of our forums?

...erm, yes thank you I believe I shall :squint: Pushy forum!
