The Den's first Star Wars Story

By Bean

Chapter 1

The Station rocked from the blast, it rocked so violently, that Cronn Aricc was sent sprawling from its force. He climbed back up, and continued through the door at the end of the corridor. The massive hangar bay was fast emptying, as Rebellion pilots filed into their X- and Y-wing fighter, and headed into combat.

Aricc's freighter, a Corellian Engineering Corporation YT-2700 freighter-second only in size to his YT-3500 freighter to ships that he personally flew-was sitting neatly next to one of two Gallofree Medium Transports, which were undergoing final repairs, before continuing on to Hoth to bring some supplies to the Rebel base there.

Cronn was almost to his ship, when a shout made him pause. "ARICC! Wait for us boss!" 4 men were moving at a jog from a door at the opposite side of the bay. Cronn kept going to the ship, and paused under it, waiting for the men, they all climbed the ramp, and three of them went to man guns placed throughout the ship. The other one followed him to the cockpit.

"Run the preflight, I have to check on something." He turned to the sensor board, which was getting some feed through the Space Stations scanners. There were two large green blips, representing two Imperial Light cruisers, and one large green blip, representing an Imperial escort carrier, which had brought a wing of fighters and bombers (1 wing = 6 squadrons = 72 fighters.) Two large red blips and one white blip represented two Rebellion Marauder Corvettes, and The Station. A large number of small red and green dots represented fighters and other small craft dueling it out in the space nearby.

"Boss, we're ready to fly." Zins Aviass said from the co-pilots seat, Cronn spun, and landed in the pilots seat, grabbing the control yoke, and manuevering the eighty-meter-long vessel out of the hangar, and into the thick of the dogfighting. The three turretted twin turbolasers in the rear sections of the ship sounded off, operating independentely thanks to individual gunners, along with warhead launchers and lighter weaponry controlled by Zins in the copilot seat.

"Zins, patch through to the Flagship, I need to talk to Torvid." Cronn manuevered the freighter into a small space between a marauder corvette and a quickly approaching shuttle, narrowly avoiding taking the shuttle's nose off, but still letting it move into the corvettes hangar bay without losing speed.

"Admiral Torvid here." Zizer Torvid said from the deck of the Aricc "Pirate" Foundation ship, the Flagship, A Victory-II-Class destroyer, presently the flagship (imagine that) of the A"P"F fleet.

"Torv, bring the first fleet in over top of the Space Station, cut down behind the Imperial ships while dropping fighters, and move fast!" Aricc said into the comm mic as he brought the freighter over one of the Imperial Cruisers, which happily opened fire on the easy target, and the sparks flew out of the shield control panel.

"Dammit," Zins said, as he tried to bring the shields back online. By now, Aricc had cleared the big vessel, and had given the gunners a clear shot at a triplet of TIE Bombers making a run on The Station. He then brought the ship down close to another of the rebel corvettes, cutting over top of it and triggering a pair of proton torpedoes at the nearby Light-Cruiser.

"The shields are back up." Aviass said, turning back to the weapons board, and calling up all the portside weapons to fire upon the cruiser. Aricc twisted the ship on the starboard side, and cut down toward another trio of Bombers, making a run on the space station, the turrets opened up, and the bombers were turned into scrap.

It was at this time that a group of ships showed up over the station, and started moving down, towards the fight. A pair of heavily modified Corellian Corvettes opened fire on the cruisers, taking one out in the first salvo, as they turned on the other, the Victory fired upon it, its more powerful weapons did an enormous amount of damage. A group of nearby Alliance starfighters, which had started a run on the ship, let loose with a volley of torpedoes and missles, which tore the cruiser up. And left no more than a mop-up left to complete.

Aricc's freighter, angled off towards the newly arrived vessels, as a series of transports came from the large station, and jumped off to hyperspace. The fighters were commencing cleaning off leftover Imperial TIEs, but the dedicated escorts moved away from the battle, and joined their respected transports in the jumps.

By the time all the fighters and transports had left, Cronns freighter was within the hold of the Flagship. And the Battle of The Station was over.

Chapter 2

On the bridge of the Flagship, Cronn Aricc looked out at the hulks that remained of the battle. The Escort Carrier had fled when the A"P"F ships had shown up. And with it, whatever TIE's could get there in time to leave.

"How many?"Aricc asked Admiral Zizer Torvid.

"Got away? Oh, maybe 30-or-so, not more than 3 squads." Torvid had quite a history, most of it involved Cronn or his father. When he was eighteen, Torvid had joined the Imperial Navy. A month later, as a technician in an Outer-Rim hangar, he stole a Corellian Gunship, and fled the Imperial pursuit ships. Arriving at Aerale a day later, and enlisting in the 12-year-old (at the time) Aricc "Pirate" Foundation. Since then, his reputation only got better.

"Thats good, now, any idea where they went?" Aricc had now moved to the sensor board, to see how the fight was going. He was amazed at how capable the Rebellion pilots were, compared to the Imperials. Then again, they have a real ideal to be fighting for, he thought.

"Probably back to their staging point, Bimmsaari. Thats not far away if you want to pursue them." Torvid loved combat, especially from the deck of a big, well defended cruiser. The Flagship definitely fit that description.

"No, lets stay here, near Hutt Space. The Hutts don't scare me nearly as much as the Imperial Fleet." Being a criminal in the Imperials books, he still had competition from the usual sources: Black Sun, The Hutts, and the Freyurian's, most of them were scared of Aricc, all with good reason to be, as Aricc had the most power of any of them.

"Then what do we do?" Torvid wanted to go into combat, Aricc could tell from his eyes.

"We're going back to Aerale. Hang out there until something worth our attention shows up. Then, we can go into combat." Aricc turned, and left the bridge, heading back to the primary hangar bay. "Wait until I'm outta the ship before leaving please."

"As ordered sir!" Torvid turned to the comms officer. "Call all ships, back to Aerale. We'll see 'em there."

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Aricc Boarded the Switch, his freighter, and almost ran into an overly energetic Zins.

"Whats up?" He asked.

"I just picked up a comm, for you, the local command wants to see you. Something about an assault." Zins held out a datacard. "Everythings here."

"Go tell Torv to hang around. I'll investigate, take care of the freighter too, I'll take an X-wing instead." Aricc turned to leave, and Zins tailed him out.

After docking on The Station, Cronn headed toward the meeting room stated on the disk, when he got there, he was surprised to see holos of the Rebellion High Command. Mon Mothma, Leia Organa, and others.

"Aricc, a welcome sight to any self-respecting rebel, welcome." Colonel Tiv Shize, the local commander, said, gesturing to a chair at the opposite side of the table.

"Thanks Colonel. Whats the meaning for this meeting." Cronn asked, sitting down.

"We would like to both thank you for your support here today, and request further assistance from you. In an assault on the Imperial world of Yakkorr III, which would open all of the Yakkorr system to us. If you would kindly look at the data on the terminals before you, you will see everything you need to know about the planet. I will let you read that over for a few minutes." Sure enough, on the terminal built into the table, words scrolled across, accompanied by pictures. Finally, Aricc saw what he wanted to see, then, wished he hadn't.

"A sector fleet?" He asked. Wondering just how suicidal the Rebellion was at this point. A sector fleet consisted of three or more (if the sector is experiencing an uprising) Imperial Star Destroyers, which alone would be enough to decimate an Rebel fleet, with or without Aricc's support. But there was also numerous light cruisers and corvettes in support of the destroyers. Aricc knew that the Rebellion wouldn't joke around with him.

"Will you help us Aricc, yes or no." Mothma asked, the seriousness of her voice carried through, even in the holo-representation.

"Yes, Yes I will."

Tell me what you think, honestly please

Chapter 3

Cronn Aricc walked from the meeting room, apparentely, after he agreed to help the Alliance, two other groups represented at the meeting via Holonet Communique had agreed to assist. The strike force was shaping up to be a decently capable, albeit slightly small, assault force.

As he came to the bay, he saw an oddly familiar shuttlecraft landing nearby to his X-wing, an A-wing set down nearby, and its pilot clambered out, and headed toward The Stations bar, but he didn't move away fast enough.

"Eliz? Eliz Leboi, is that you?" Cronn manuevered himself between the pilot and the door he was aiming toward. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"Cronn Aricc, its been awhile hasn't it." Eliz Leboi was a great friend of Cronn's, they had met on Corellia, before both 'inheriting' a pirate force, although the Aricc "Pirate" Foundation severly outnumbered the Laboi's Avengers. Eliz still found areas to boast about, like overall profits. The kind that found its way into the leaders pocket.

"That it has, Flying an A-wing these days? I'm shocked, I was picturing a Marauder-Class corvette, or a Bulk Cruiser." Cronn looked toward the obviously expensive shuttle, "or is that yours too."

"Yes, it is mine, although I prefer my speedy little 'junk heap.' Its an interesting ride. I don't see your ship here."

"Oh, I'm cruising around in an X-wing, the Flagship is right outside."

"Yes, I saw, you part of the strike Aricc? You always find any available action, and I wouldn't mind having your ships at my side." Leboi had finally gotten around Cronn, and to the door.

"Of course I am Leboi, what did you expect." Aricc followed him through the door. "Lets both have a drink."

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

In the bar, Aricc realized just how broad the Rebellions forces were, from Duros in the corner, to a pair of Talz nearby, to an Ithorian, who, Cronn guessed, was just passing by. As Eliz explained his plan, Cronn downed an exotic drink, and then, he finally conceded to Leboi, he didn't have a plan yet.

"I need time to think it over Eliz, its not something that I can base on knowing the local Imperial power, I need a star chart and sector map. My plan will, of course, work, but until then..." Aricc let the sentance hang. "I got to go, see you later Leboi."

"Bye Cronn."

Aricc headed to the X-wing in the bay, and flew back to the Victory-Class destroyer, and headed immediately to the Bridge.

_______________________________________________________________________________________________

"Okay, Torvid, Aviass, listen up." He had herded the two, along with his brother, Rapav, to a sealed conference room in the bridge tower. "This is supposed to stay secret, but in thirty-six standard hours, it will be revealed. Here," He skidded a Datapad to Zizer, "pass it along, in it, it has everything you need to know about the new Rebellion target, Yakkorr III. And heres my plan..."

Chapter 4

FLASHBACK

The cold rain pattered softly to the ground, a shrill whistle sounded from behind another stack of crates. I whistled back, setting the blaster rifle on the opening in the concealing pile. The deal would be over shortly. and they would step out into our trap.

As I waited, I thought of how good it would be to leave CorSec when the time came, my brothers execution was set for two days. Which meant two more days of taking out as many of my fathers opponents on Corellia as I could before that. The preparations were set for when the execution came. All they need was a small push to get the ball rolling.

A beep came from my comlink, they were coming out of the warehouse now, each one with a blaster of varying design, pistols rifles and even a concussion grenade launcher. I raised my comlink to my mouth and whispered "I'm taking the one with the launcher." I set the comlink back in my belt, and sighted the thug down the blasters barrel.

At 18, I had joined CorSec as one of the youngest to do so, but with my mothers death and my father controlling the A"P"F from Aerale, there wasn't much else to do. I had learned that the mercenaries who killed my mother were paid for in no small part by the Imperial Army. Which was one of the reasons for my upcoming mutiny, another was the slated public execution of my brother, who had made a very stupid move of revealing his true identity to the wrong people, not to mention hand off CEC ships to the Rebellion, which I definately was not mad at him about, in his position as designer at Corellian Engineering Corporation, it didn't bother me at all that he had given to-be-military vessels to the Alliance, he was paying for it now, in jail and all.

The signal, our inside man wiping the rain out of his hair, I started counting down, 5...4...3...2...1, then, he pulled his blaster and hollered something, from this distance, with the storm in the sky, it was impossible to make out, but I guessed it to be something along the lines of 'drop your guns, Corellian Security Force.' I watched them chuckle, and raise their weapons...

"Now," I said into the comm, and fired.

My target went down instantly, and we started raking fire across the other seven men, until they were all dead. The other three of us stepped from our cover, and moved out to the clearing, it was over...

Cronn snapped awake, memories in the form of his dream fading away, within a few seconds he was wide awake. Taking in his surroundings he realized he was in his office, his office on the Flagship, on its way to Aerale, A"P"F stronghold, and Imperial Tactician's nightmare. He rolled his chair over to his data terminal to check the remaining time on the hyperspace jump. Only twenty minutes left he thought, must've been asleep longer than I thought.

He got up, grabbing his Blastech DL-90 pistol off the desk, and shoving it rather roughly into its holster, checking to make sure the charger mechanism wasn't on, he headed off to the bridge.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Zizer Torvid, and Zins Aviass were already there, both looking at listings on terminals, before they left, the Alliance Command had given them information on their planned preliminary strikes, strikes on a small shipping convoy, and a lightly defended rim planet of Coli. Both were reliant on A"P"F support. Aricc had promised them they would get it.

For now that took a backseat to another important step, preparing vessels such as the Enjoyable Dream, Blue Moon, and Vicious Defender for a handful of battles. Very important battles.

A buzzing alarm went off, signalling that there were only a few more seconds until the ship and its two corvette escort came out of hyperspace. Aricc seated himself in the primary command chair, and turned to look out the viewport.

When they did come out of hyperspace, it was at the end of the Perlemian Trade Route, looking down the throat of a carefully set up asteroid field. There was a tunnel, just large enough to fit a Star Destroyer through with some extra space, of course, only two Star Destroyers had ever come through here, and none ever came out.

The pilot aimed the 900-meter long Victory-II through the opening, and on the other side was a very large planet, normally, a planetoid of this size would have incredibly high gravity, but for some unexplainable reason, the two moons, both converted into Garrison Moons, acted as a counter-gravity, lowering the felt gravity significantly, regardless, we were 'home' the A"P"F's "personal" planet, we were moving into position to orbit Aerale, named after its founder, Aricc's father, Aeralic Aricc.

The large ship set into a orbit, and Admiral Torvid, General (Class 2) Aviass, Boss Aricc, and Captain Kilth Reliy all headed to the hangar, to climb into their ships, and go to the Command, and Battle meeting.

Chapter 5

Torvid, Aviass, Reliy, and of course Aricc, walked into the conference room. In it was a large table, with several holoprojectors, and data terminals. There were already several people in it, Captains Poervay, a Mon Calamari, captain of the MC35 frigate, Enjoyable Dream, and Raaj Rellik, captain of the Blue Moon, the A"P"F's oldest vessel, which happened to be a Dreadnaught, and Captain Opers, an Alliance member who captained the Strike Cruiser Vicious Defender, currently on lease from the Alliance to help a now scrapped assault on Furgor, a local planet which recently managed to overthrow imperial military prescence, and join the Alliance. Furgor was located directly across the Perlemian from Aerale, and served as a forward base for combined, or strictly Aricc assaults.

The meeting started, and Aricc layed out the plan, involving support from a number of other pirates and mercenary forces. When the plan was agreed upon to be a fairly effective one, a messenger droid apperared in the door. It rolled over, and plugged itself in, and started displaying a message from Alliance High Command:

"Recent Imperial movements pointed to a weakness in military power over Yakkorr III, we have sent a commando team in to attempt to draw Imperial forces to Dojis, the rim planet of the Yakkorr sector. The Imperial Sector Fleet is moving to attempt to stop continuous roits on the planet. Continue as planned, although several planet based ion- and turbolaser batteries are going to be moved to the moons of Yakkorr to provide a stable suppresion fire. There is to be a second meeting at The Station, before it is moved to a new location. Please, I ask of all of your contributing forces to attend, as the assault will commence from there."
The message ended. And with that, everyone left to their ships, knowing exactly where to go, and what to do.

Chapter 6

"Freighter Ximgar, your cargo is aboard and secure." The Imperial supply officer handed some datacards back to Roig Troglis, who's disguise of the day was a simple mustache. Roig accepted the cards, and pocketed them. "Don't get your cargo stolen, it creates too much paperwork for me."

"Paperwork for you, but don't become an Imperial freighter captain if thats the scariest thing in life." The hatch sealed, and the medium freighter started away. Once their course was plotted they aimed out to get to the rendevous point, a spot where fourteen fighters, all Alliance or A"P"F commanded would join him for the ride back to Aerale. With a hold full of concussion missles, proton torpedoes, fuel and tibanna gas, the freighter was one hell of an expensive firework waiting to get blown up. Something the fighters couldn't allow.

The systems defense fleet was based around the planet Roig and his 18-man crew were leaving. The Ximgar they were riding in really was the Ximgar, an KDY C-300 transport, since discontinued. After this, its last of two uses since being stolen by the Rebel Alliance when the hold was full of field rations, it was to be sold to an independent shipper, with its IFF Transponder and Imperial markings removed first.

The freighter passed a Dreadnaught on its way out, the 50-meter freighter was only a twelfth the size of the cruiser. Finally, they were free of the gravity well of the planet.

"Nier, jump to hyperspace when ready." Troglis said, sitting in the co-pilots chair, he hated freighters, to small and slow, he had been put in command on this mission because of his cool head. His Marauder corvette Repository was at the final meeting place, a planetary moon just a microjump away from the location of an Imperial military convoy they planned to jump before the combined strike on Coli.

"Jumping to hyperspace captain, in three... two.... one.... Jump."

And they left.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Cronn Aricc, on the command deck of the MC35B frigate, Enjoyable Dream. Like all A"P"F ships, the name stemmed from something, and something important too.

In the case of the frigate, it had always been a dream of the A"P"F to command a potent frigate, capable of doing immense damage, while being crewed by few, and easily repaired, and it had always been an Enjoyable dream too. The Frigate had come with the first of the Mon Calamari cruisers to join the Alliances fleet. The MC35B only had one ship in the class presently, as the cost of refitting a 475- meter pleasure cruiser into a capable warship was a large one. Half the ship was crewed by droids, the ship bristled with weaponry, and a few armored solar panels, along with three Cordak LL031B generators created enough energy of operate the 25 turbolasers, 30 quad laser cannons, 10 concussion missle and 10 proton torpedo tubes. As well as four tractor beam projectors.

The ship had set the A"P"F back 175,000 credits, which was a steal, and with a neccessary crew complement of only 155, the ship needed only a small amount of space for crew quarters, and had large cargo bays, and two small hangars, all of which somehow fit in the ship.

Aricc, meanwhile was trying to decide how to distribute the hundreds of warheads brought through three warehouse thefts, trying to organise which ships would see the most action.

The Convoy Assault was to provide them with more equipment for the fight at Coli and Yakkorr, the convoy, 16 freighters moving through relatively unfriendly space with a Strike Cruiser, two Carrack-Class light cruisers, and two squadrons of TIE fighters, on a patrol along the route, based out of a local garrison, was all they had for defense.

And the combined assault would make use of that.

Chapter 7

The lead Carrack-class light cruiser came out of hyperspace. There was only two objects nearby. 20 kilometers away from the cruiser were two light freighters, not shocking considering the circumstances. Being Only a few thousandths of a light-year from the Perlemian trade route, the convoy was not expecting much trouble, a Star Destroyer, the Turkana, was about 25 minutes away.

Captain Potre looked at the sensor screen next to his command chair. The TIE fighters were on their way, ETA 10 minutes.

"Captain, the freighters have turned toward us, and are accelerating." a staff officer, but a few meters away from Potre, told the ranking officer.

"Communications, get me a link with the two freighters."

"Sir, more pressing matters, a Strike-class cruiser has just showed up 4 kilometers to our starboard, and its not the Leveler either." The sensor officer looked back at his screen, "And its just launched a dozen X-wing fighters at us."

"Get the TIE fighters off the racks, send them to engage, ETA of the other two squadrons..."

"7 minutes, sir." The sensor officer again.

"Good, signal the Turkana," The captain turned back to the viewport. "If the Rebels want a fight they'll get one."

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Admiral Zizer Torvid stood on the bridge of the Vicious Defender. The Strike cruiser's fighters had grouped up over the top of the ship, and as the freighters started in, the whole swarm, fighters and freighters grouped up and all attacked at once.

The small ship's unleashed a hailstorm of explosive projectiles, proton torpedoes and concussion missles all streamed in at the Carrack cruiser. A wall of explosions occured on the shields of the craft, the shields collapsed, and the rain of projectiles started through to the hull of the cruiser. Turbolaser fire from the Defender finished what the fighters had started, and the light cruiser exploded suddenly.

Torvid looked over to the Bridge lieutenant, "Report."

The officer looked back at his screen, and responded "Two TIE Fighter squadrons a few minutes out, next craft to come from hyperspace should be the Leveler, the defense fleets Strike-Cruiser, then the convoy."

"Good. Call Aricc, tell him to bring the firepower."

"Yessir, on it sir."

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Zins Aviass was in the thick of the battle flying the lead X-wing of Redemption Squadron, the 11 best pilots of the A"P"F and either Aricc, Aviass, or Torvid as lead. He cut under the dying hulk of the light cruiser, then found himself getting shot at on the other side. "Careful, port guns are live, repeat, port guns are still hot."

"Copy boss, avoiding fire." An X-wing came over the top of the ship, and and started ducking laser fire. The Redemption squadron pilots were headed for Bishop Squad, the two dozen TIEs were labeled a squad because they came from one garrison, and worked as one cohesive unit, instead of two twelve TIE groups.

A few minutes out, they hit the wave, every Redemption pilot got off a proton torpedo at the TIEs, taking half of them out immediately, as the other fighters had no shields, but, of course, the good pilots remained.

Redemption 3, Crastik Kellix, brother to the captain of one of the freighters, got hit by crossfire from two TIEs working together, and was decimated. Redemption 5, and 8 were also killed, each by a bad evasive twist or turn, and summarily slaughtered.

As Zins and the rest of the squadron turned around to head back at the strike cruiser, the Enjoyable Dream showed up, coming from hyperspace to a stop next to the Rebellion cruiser. Sixteen R-41 Starchaser fighters came out of the hangar bay, accompanied by eight Y-wing fighters. All of the small craft moved into a defensive wall around the bigger ships.

It was at this time that the Leveler, and the other Carrack cruiser showed up, behind them was 16 freighters, and two assault gunboats. When the Imperial cruisers noticed the Alliance battleships waiting for them, they scrambled their fighters, and with Redemption still 3 minutes away, they would have time to get set before the dogfight got overbalanced. The Y-wings with their R-41 escort moved in to disable the freighter group. And the big ships started squaring off with one another.

The first skirmish of the Battle of Yakkorr III was underway.

As always critisism enjoyed!

Chapter 8

Argus Pok, leader of the Y-wing flight, watched as a quartet of R-41 fighters broke off to engage the Gunboats. The rest of the flight group continued their mission. Disabling the convoy for the Assault teams, so they could capture the supplies on the freighters.

The Levelers first wave of fighters came from the bay, one squadron of TIE Intercepters. Argus watched the agile vessels swing around to come right at his flight.

"Blue flight, squints to starboard, prepare to engage. Pick a target, blast it and move." Pok switched his weapons control over to torpedoes, and chose the nearest fighter for his target. As soon as he got a target lock he fired. The torpedo blasted straight through the intercepter and blew up right behind it, scattering debris everywhere.

By the time everyone else had their shots, the entire intercepter squadron was a debris cloud. The flight continued on to their targets.

Seven minutes had passed.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The Enjoyable Dream pounded continually at the Strike Cruiser, the Leveler fired back between bursts, but it was outgunned, and faltering. A few more minutes and little would remain.

Meanwhile the Vicious Defender was slugging it out with the Carrack cruiser. The Carrack was obviously outgunned, and appeared to be planning a breakaway jump to hyperspace. A few seconds later, Cronn Aricc's suspicions were proven, and the Carrack disappeared.

"Sir, Admiral Torvid has commenced the assault on the Leveler, I don't think it will take much more of a fight to bring her down sir."

"Yes, captain, I do agree. Have Comms signal to Corporal Lesig. The boarding is to commence."

"Yes, sir" The captain ran off to do Aricc's bidding.

Ten minutes had passed.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Zins Aviass and Redemption squadron appeared just as the Levelers TIE Fighters came streaking out from the hangar bay.

Moments later the pilots were proven to be green, fresh trainees. Redemption squad annihilated them, alsmot instantly. The X-wings returned to Combat patrol pattern around the cruisers, and watched the Leveler's final moments.

The Assault Transports of Corporal Lesig, leader of the assault team, appeared, and started moving, fairly quickly, toward the disable freighters. The Transports arrived and started boarding.

Fourteen minutes had passed.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

"Sir, Lesig reports boarding on freighters 1-4 is complete. Teams are moving toward 5-8" Captain Poervay relayed to Aricc.

"Good, tell him to hurry. The Turkana should be here shortly."

Nineteen minutes had passed

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Lesig emptied his blaster carbine into a barricade, set up by imperial troops in freighter 6. It was a useless attempt. This was a major setback, the time passed and finally, a soldier arrived with a mortar, and placed an explosive charge just over the durasteel barricade. The troops behind were killed, and the path to the bridge was opened.

Twenty-six minutes had passed.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

"Sir," Captain Poervay called to Aricc, "Imperial Star Destroyer, 17-klicks out, ETA: six minutes"

"Comm the Corporal, tell him to get his ass in gear, he has five minutes to capture 9-12"

"What about 13-16, leave them?"

"We don't have time for them captain, the Imperials can keep them." As Aricc said this, freighters 1-4 jumped to hyperspace.

Twenty-seven minutes had passed.

Cronn Aricc watched on the sensors board of the Enjoyable Dream the Star Destroyer Turkana as it lumbered slowly towards the cluster of Rebel/A"P"F ships. Cronn also watched as a dozen fighter blips appeared, it had scrambled wave one of fighters.
Aricc turned to his admiral, "Torvid, alert fighters, TIEs coming from Hostile ISD, I want them killed ASAP."
"Gotcha Aricc, sending comm now."
He watched as the fighters moved to position themselves between the freighters and the inbound fighters. He could almost see them flicking weapons over to the missles or torpedoes, and deciding who's life they wanted to end. Visualizing all the Imperials had done to planets like Alderaan, and the countless other unknown planets they had ravaged.
"Sir, freighters 5 through 8 are out of here, freighters 9 through 12 are in final preparations to jump. Star Destroyer Turkana two minutes out." The sensor operator checked his board before he said "Wave 1 of fighters is dead, wave 2 incoming."
"Torv, tell all fighters to kill the second wave, then jump. We'll buy them some time, the Vicious stays."
"Gotcha again Aricc."

"Is Aricc crazy or something?" Captain Arkk Copos, of the Vicious Defender yelled at no one in particular. "We are to stay and duel a Star Destroyer?!"
"He's staying back too, sir, and we're buying time, not killing the damn thing." Lieutenant Liopold was one of the many people who believed the Strike Cruiser was named after its captains personality. Vicious, and defensive.
"He's still goddamn crazy." That would be Arkk's defensive side showing through.
"Sir, thats what makes him such a tactical genius." That would be Liopold's comeback, it made the Captain shut up. Which made all the crewers on the bridge happy.

The fighters made the hyperspace jump out of the battle zone with the freighters, heading for a regroup point, where all the ships would meet up before making a jump to get the freighters unloaded, and prepare for the next step in the battle plan. After keeping the ISD busy long enough for the Strike Cruiser to escape to the rendevous point, the Enjoyable Dream followed everyone else out.
Time for Part 2 of the Battle Plan.

Chapter 10

Now, with the Imperial forces in the general area devoted to defending other supply convoys, all of which could be considered plausible targets now, the attack could commence. The fleet massed nearby the Outer Rim planetoid, staying close, but not close enough to be detected by the planets defenses. Between the A"P"F vessels, the Alliance ships, and the ships of a handful of various other forces, they had a decently powerful assemblage of vessels.
When the final ships had shown, the fleet prepared the final move towards Yakkor III, the ships got into position, and planned their jump to end up toe-to-toe with the Imperial cruisers there. A few seconds later, plans became a reality, and the battle began.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Alright, lets do this, " Aviass said to the rest of his flight as they came from under the Nebulon-B Frigate they had ridden in with. The benefit of this attack was that the Imperials were caught entirely unaware, shields down, weapons unpowered, generally unprepared for what was about to come upon them. This was something that was planned to be made great use of.
The twelve X-Wings came up on the nose of the Carrack-light cruiser, strafing fire and an occasional torpedo or two onto the ships unprotected hull. The big ships started opening fire, and were already ripping holes in the smaller Imperial vessels. Without warning, six TIE fighters appeared at the back of the light cruiser, interupting the strafing run, and drawing fire towards themselves. Two were cut to flaming ribbons by laser-fire before the flight groups flew through one another. Zins pulled off an impressively quick 180 and started after the closest fighter. The fighter groups were now coming around to mingle again, getting into impressive dogfighting. Aviass ended up dueling with the fighter he started after, firing his lasers at it, but watching as the pilot pulled off some impressive manuevering and avoided the fire. Finally, a blast tore off the left wing, the fighter spun into the side of the Light cruiser the X-wings had just been strafing,
By glancing at the radar panel, Zins confirmed that the rest of the TIEs had been dispatched by his fellow fighter pilots. They moved to engage the bigger ships again, waiting for the Imperials to scramble more fighters.

"Sir!" Aricc turned to the sensor officer next to him, "One of the Imperial cruisers is officially dead in space."
"Good, only four left." The battle was commencing well, and more importantly, quickly, speed was of the essence here, in a few minutes, he would head back to the hangars, and board one of the transports heading to the planets surface, the first of which, the ones bearing special commando forces would soon be leaving. These would be sent to infiltrate the comms networks on the planet, to attempt to ease the divide and conquer mentality.
"Sir, fighters are appearing from the ground now. Whats the plan in getting the transports safely to the surface?"
"Get two squads of fighters from Blue wing to assist in getting the commandoes down, for the next wave, I want Aviass' and Eubirn's squads to run cover." Aricc turned, heading toward the door at the end of the bridge. "Ensure that happens, alright?"
"Yes, sir!"
With that, Aricc headed down to gear up to get to action on the surface.
