IMPORTANT SSR NEWS! LAST POST! READ ALL ABOUT IT!

So yeah, some of you may have noticed that SSR: Chapter 2 has been unstickied. The reason for this is that I'm having a bit of a crisis, which might seem silly to some of you, but here's the deal. I've plotted myself into a corner, and I don't know how to scrabble out of it without making a complete mess of the RPG. It's all my fault, for not having the foresight to plot things properly - Or actually, having far too much foresight and plotting too far ahead. I've been pretty much thinking on how to tackle this for the last few weeks, and have basically come up with a few ideas.
First of all, I'd like to know who's still on board and who's interested in joining? Please drop a post here, even if you've got nothing else to contribute.

Secondly, the RPG it's self. There are a few key things I'd like to do.
Strip back the paranormal to the bare minimum. I feel with Jim and the Thing it's kinda dominated the plot, and made it something I didn't really want it to be. This means that I ultimately want to take the Thing out of the RPG completely, as VO correctly stated regarding the current chapter: The whole plot revolves around this big invasion, that the players can't really do much about.

Another thing I'd really like to tackle is Wescorp's influence in the RPG. I feel it's kind of a stumbling block as far as interaction with the world is concerned, and has also abolished the idea of super heroes having 'alter egos'. Which is a shame, as I'd like to focus on them a little more.
There's also a few things regarding the world, the NPCs, etc I'd really like to fiddle about with. Taking out some of the sillier elements of Lutonopolis (Area 15, the Wescorp Complex, San Franwesco, etc.) and abolishing CKWE completely.

Also, I thought it'd be a good idea to let players play villains. :D
Now, there are a few ways I can impliement these changes, as I can see.
A total restart with a clean slate Restarting Chapter 2 and working the above changes in gradually Soldiering on and just sweeping aside everything I don't like.

This is basically where the rest of you come in. What do you guys think is best for the RPG? I mean, do you agree? Do you think I'm being silly and we should just carry on as is? If not, which of the above would you be happiest with? And don't just say whatever *I'm* happiest with, or I'll throttle you. :p And of course, if there is a restart, is there anything else you're unhappy with that you'd like to see change?
That's pretty much it, I know it's a lot to ask of you guys - But I'm really just trying to get a general concensus here. As more often than not, most of you have more sense than I do. :p

Well, as you know, I'm on board whatever the end result. For personal preference, though, I think I would like to see a full restart. It's drastic, but if the RPG isn't as you'ld like it, then no amount of ret conning will really work, I think. Also, I want to work Ronin very differently. Just my two cents.

I'd love to join... I need something else to waste my time on :p

/me goes to re-read the old rules and such...

also, I'd prefer the full reset... with things like these, how're you going to take things out without making it look like you took things out? Perfect example. "What happened to Area 15/Wescorp Complex/San Franwesco?"

"Oh, a sinkhole opened up/thermotropic bomb/my dog ate it."

Well, if I did decide to carry on - I'd just leave those things as they are, as they don't really bug me as much as everything else I mentioned. And I can think of pretty solid ways to get around Wescorp's influence on the main team, but I can't think of a way to boot out the Thing without... Well, a scenario like the one you described :p

Bah, Ive told you a hundred billion times on MSN, there *is* no crisis. Not with any of the RPGs IMO, we just need to put more time and effort into them. I think the best solution is soldiering on - Full restarts are counter-productive. I think the only time a full restart has actually worked was when Shadow became ShadowZero - And that was mainly to get everyone with new characters and further characterise the RPG.

I think we can do all the things you want to in this chapter without a morale-sapping restart. We haven't advanced that far into this chapter, plotwise, so all we'd do is destroy the character development we have achieved - Throwing the bay out with the bathwater.

C'mon, lets go!

Actually, I'm changing my opinion. Soldiering on appeals to me more now. I know it's harder on you, Aies. Like I say, the more I think about it, the more it appeals.

If you want to solider on - I'll see what I can do. Though tbh, I'd be much happier with somebody else taking over - As I don't think I can carry on with this RPG as is. :\

Hello,

I've been bothering a lot of people about Chapter 2 recently - How I simply have no will to carry on, and as you can see from this thread, have considered drastic action. Well, now I have less drastic action to report!

I'm restarting Chapter 2!

I have the first post written, primed and ready to post as soon as I get a sub-title and a fancy new plot that doesn't involve Things that crawl into the GM's brain and die. Leaving a horrible smell and passing on creative rot.

Characters can be carried over, everything remains the same, new characters can be made and anybody new who wants to join is more than welcome!

Questions?

woah...

ok, as AI knows, I've had problem getting on the Den lately... but you can be very sure I'm in :DI think the only time a full restart has actually worked was when Shadow became ShadowZero - And that was mainly to get everyone with new characters and further characterise the RPG.

Meh. Just, meh. I like the old Shadow setting.

Well why didn't you say so? :dead: I had nothing but people going 'Ooh Transys Arc... tsk tsk'

So when do we get moving, Aiesbot?

AI

As soon as I think of a subtitle we'll be rolling. :color1:

And I think ShadowZero was beneficial, it cleared out a lot of the clutter but remained true to the essense of original Shadow. It was a good move Wes, just need to get it moving again! ^^

Subtitle, eh?

I'd offer some suggestions. Deja Vu maybe, or Can't start this thing we stopped! or possibly Only Forward (from now on - honest), but then you're the only one who knows whats in store :p

How about SSR-Chapter 2: Don't Stop Me Now. That incorporates elements of the RPG itself (In the dissolution and all) as well as a reminder to Aies.

And Queen!
