Dunno if any of you guys have used the Commando, but I have several times. Something I noticed in my last game. I sent him in the enemy base to take out some power structures. When I ordered him out, the sucker turned around and went back into the base on his own. Dunno if it's a bug, or he's suppose to act like that. The fool died cause he disobeyed my order. :rockbrow:

I've heard of this happening. I don't know if this would work, but try reducing the aggresiveness of his attack stance. Units default to the second highest stance, which means they will attack any units within their sight range, and they will pursue enemies for a short distance within their sight range (basically guard mode). Personally I think this is too high, I don't like autonamous units because they're more likely to do something stupid while you're looking away. The next lowest stance is the same as the default for Zero Hour, units will attack enemies within their attack range, but will not move without an order. At the lowest setting units will not do anything without an order, this is a good setting for stealth units. At the highest setting units will attack any enemies within their sight, and pursue them forever. You should really never use this setting.

Anyways, yeah, try turning the stance down, that might be whats causing the problem.

Thats one of the Nod Militia's abilities. After an upgrade they can throw hallucinagenic grenades that make the target enemy infantry start fighting each other.

Hell yeah that happened to me! The nod commando chick, i told her to kill off some rocket soldiers outside a barracks and she did that.... awsome... then she goes nuts and attacks everything, the move icon dissapeared it was replaced by the red "cannot move unit there" icon. She didnt survive very long

I've quite often had him do things of his own accord, One thing that really annoys me is the fact that if he's under attack and snarts to crawl, if you attempt to use his Jumpjets, he just wont do it.

I mean, If you're under heavy tank fire, Would you try and crawl up to the tank, or use your jumpjets to get out of harms way? CooCoo!

I've had other units turn round and start attacking other things as well after i've ordered them to go somewhere. Normal units like preds.

I'm on the verge of just not using any infantry from the problems I've had with them. Commandos seem to want to go to whatever NOD hubs happen to be hanging around. One particularly irksome experience was where I was almost done with the map and only had a small pocket of enemy resistance left. I started dropping zone troopers in as reinforcements and they ended up killing my whole force! :wtf:

Yeah, these are all problems cause by units that are too autonomous. The solution is just to turn down the aggressiveness of the stance.

Once I sent my commando to strike at 4 undefended refineries on the other side of the bridge near one of those corner Tiberian Fields. Instead of taking my orders to blow the building, he strays off to take on a garrisoned structure and gets shot up. (And considering how fast he goes down...)

I use the infantry as a front, then I come up behind with lots of tanks. I don't even think about using specials like drop pod of jump troopers, for reasons previously stated.

Hopefully problems about the commando will be fixed in the Full game as it will be troublesome for us to use a commando who does not want to follow our orders in the campaign mode's commando missions.

Yeah, its not a bug. I've already explained this. The only thing that might be changed is the commando's default stance. Its doing exactly what you're telling it to do: Whatever it wants. Turn down the stance if you don't want it acting on its own.

Does that mean that the red "can not move there" icon should appear when trying to give him an order? If he does what he wants great but i still think orders from me should be overriding what he wants to do.

That sounds like hallucinagens. Check that there are no militia nearby.

D*mn hallucinaton grenades, it only takes one to make a squad of infantry completely useless or any infantry for that matter.

Yeah!, I almost never use the commando because of this, I believe that these guys have been trained by Havok.

Anyway, Derek's solution should work.

hahah yeah the commando has to be Havoks Offspring! :D
he has some good features but sometimes he just goes on doing whatever he wants but i will try the stance thingy and see if he behaves better. Also any1 ever tried taking on a scrin tripod or a nod warmech in the field? its like impossible cause they always shot him down so fast.. :p

guys read what the attack stances do. if you set him to agressive of course hes gona go out fighting. i normal put him on holdground stance. this mean he doesn't move for anything and shoots everything in his gun range.
