I kinda need some help from some experts here on a strange problem i get in my LAN.

I got 2 PCs here and i have this problem and its also a bit hard to explain but i ll try to do my best.

When you try to start a network game between the 2 PCs I can join both PCs on the lobby BUT:

When i am typing in the lobby only one PC can send the data (the text i am typing). When i type from PC1, PC2 cant see anything but when i type from PC2, PC1 can see the data.

Also, When i create a game with PC1, PC2 cant see the game but if i make the game from PC2, PC1 can see the game.

Also, i can NEVER join the game. When u click on join the game just stays there and nothing happens.

On the PCs i have 2 NIC cards which i configured on the game settings on both PCs. I have also tried to disable one of the NIC cards on each PC but the problem remains.

I got one copy of the game and i am using the allied cd on one and the soviet cd on the other. They use the same cd key which this might be the reason that i cant join the game???

But this doesnt explain the fact that one pc doesnt send the text on the lobby.

I am using win XP SP2 btw and yes i did turn the firewall off. No other program is running on the back round that can cause a conflict for the PCs communication.

I am not using any no cd crack or what ever.

I uninstall and reinstall the game on both pcs a couple of time but still no luck.

Also patch 1.006 is applied on both PCs.

I am running out of ideas here on how to fix this so i would really like some help guys.

Plz let me know

Right-Click your Local Area Connection (icon next to the system tray) if it's there.

Choose Open Network Connections

Right-Click Local Area Connection and choose Properties.

Look for the IPX protocol on the list there. Select it and choose Properties.

At this point you should see a window with a text box that reads: Internal Network Number

Change the last digit on it to 2 'two'

Hit ok and close everything. Now try to play on LAN. You only have to do this on one computer. But if you want to do it on both just give it a different digit (3 or 4 etc...)

Hey,

Me and a friend have a kinda similar problem.

Different is that we use hamachi (some sort of online networking) instead of a normal network, and we only see each other in the chatroom, we dont see the games or chats (I did see his games and chats at first, but we changed some settings, and I don't see the games/chats anymore)

Does somebody have any suggestion about what to do?

Thanks in advance,

Shaves

Just choose the Hamachi Network Card and do the same steps I provided above.

Your playing someone that installed with the same serial number.
you know that big code you typed when you installed.
Oh and we don't like it when you bump topics from 12 days ago.

hi everyone!
let me tell my problem...

couple of days ago we were playing red alert 2 by the help of hamachi network program. but somehow we cant play it anymore now. we checked all connection settings several times (ipx protocol however found nothing wrong! so i want to tell our matter in this forum.

we cant see each other in the lobby but we used to send messages in there before. iwe couldnt find cause of the problem. it's killing me! :dead:

we checked firewall settings, anti-virus & security programs (nod 32 and zone alarm) nothing changed.

even we uninstall an re-install the game? we dont see each other again.

so i am mad about what the problem could be. could you pls write down some possible reasons why we were having difficulties about playing the game although we were playing the game before?

 OK this sounds stupid but I'm having similar touble with getting my LAN working when it is work fine.
I finally got my laptop back from repairs again, and even though I don't have a highspeed Internet connection yet I still managed to make a Lan using the router I have.
So far I've gotten 1 other kind of game to work... how I don't know, it just works ...and another 3rd party game also works only because I know the Ip of both computers so I can just connect up using the IP.
Anyway I'm trying to get Yuris Revenge, as well as Renegade and many other Lan games I got to run on my Lan. So far nothing I've done seems to work, so I'm stuck.

And unlike the guys above, I cannot see either PCs on the lobby, but the Lan works fine for another game. And just so you know, I got 3 copies of the game, 1 from that First Decade, the other two I bought seperatly years ago.

Requesting Reinforcments Help Please.

hey folks. Followed this thread and was able to get everything set up no prob (tnx). I have 2 comps (1 xp & 1 Server2003), and am able to communicate in LAN lobby. Either can host and be joined by other. game loads and starts (can even transfer maps). Server comp base blows up after 1 min or so and that player looses. Any suggestions?

HEY THERE AGAIN!!!
finally i solved the freaky problem!!! yahooo!!! :yummy::rofl::angel:

i had stated that we were using hamachi network program. we tried to remove hamachi from our computers entirely! we wiped out all folders related to hamachi and then got a new hamachi ip. after that we are playing it freely!!!

here is my suggestion who is having simila problems like us;
1- remove all hamachi contents in your comp.
2- re-instanll hamachi and get a new hamachi user ip.
3- enjoy the game!!

 Just to note... I'm not trying to run the game via Hamachi...

I'm going to give that a try though, I don't know if Hamachi is messing up the network though. The last time I played a Lan game was before I installed Hamachi, and then I moved and didn't have a Lan anymore. But I doubt the Hamachi is messing around with my Lan...
[hr]

:::Edit:::

Well I don't know if it's the Hamachi, I didn't bother installing it back on, but I will try installing it again later to see if it's really hamachi messing around.

But I discovered one small problem that may be the same as everyone. The solution was simple and quite accidental.

For both computers...
Go to your "Network Connections"
On your active Lan Icon, like 'Local Area Connection' or '1394 Connection' which ever one you are using, open their properties by right clicking and selecting Properties.
Under the General Tab, in the List below, Select "NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS compatible Transport Protocol" and click the Properties button. If this is not Installed you will need to install it.
In this window, like said in the previous posts, make sure your Internal Network Numbers are both different for both machines, like 00000002 and 00000003...
Under Frame type, select Eternet II and under Network number you could use 00000004 and 00000005...

Though I don't know about the last two numbers which I just experimented and put in, I do know that both my machines Frame Types were different, one had Auto Detect and the other on Eternet II. For some reason on a home network they have to be the same Frame type, though I could be wrong.

Only problems so far...
1 game, only one game, it isn't a C&C one, isn't working on the Lan...
It's still Lagging a bit...

Hope this helps everyone who's stuck in the same boat as I've been...
