At the start of skrimish its OK, but even in low graphics settings and 800x600 the game starts to lag really bad especially if there is action or a fight. My system is well above the requirements and there is nothing running in the background, no viruses or adware. THe FPS becomes really jerky, and a 6 player game is unplayable. Im guessing its an ingame problem because my system is quite good: Manufacturer: Gateway Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) M processor 1.86GHz Memory: 1022MB RAM Hard Drive: 92 GB (4gb free) Video Card: ATI MOBILITY RADEON X700 (64MB) Monitor: Default Monitor Sound Card: Conexant AMC Audio Speakers/Headphones: Headphones Keyboard: USB Root Hub Mouse: Logitech mx500 Mouse Surface: Desk Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2

1. Are you playing against the AI?
2. Are you playing custom maps?

Customs maps are often poorly designed, with small choke points, poorly painted imassable terrain, and inaccessible tech structures. All of these can cause AI problems. The AI works very well on a well designed map and in smaller numbers, but when you subject the game to a poorly designed map and/or large numbers of AI, lag is unavoidable, even on the best of computers.

If you're computer can run a 2v2 on Fallen Empire with 3 Brutal AIs without any significant lag, then there is no serious problem, you're just asking too much from it.

I'm running a Mobility Radeon also, and I get some bad framerate spasms. 800x600 with everything low seems to make everything run nice for me though, I just can't keep it like that, I get bored of the bad graphics quickly when it can look so good.

When you say 4GB free, you mean that's all that's free? Try deleting some things and defragmenting, that isn't much space for virtual memory to be swapping with. Hard drive access is what really kills a game I find, if your HDD light is starting to flicker a lot and its in sync with the lag, you know it's that.
