Or is the Juggernaut+sniper+apc combo pretty much AWESOME??!?!?!?! Easy turtle shell technique... start out uberdefensified... (yes I just made it up.) We're talking snipers+bunkers, EMP cannons, AA turrets, missle teams... you get the picture....
Step 2: Assemble 5-10 (More the merrier) Juggernauts in a protected area of the base.
Step 3: Send out APC after APC of sniper teams and deploy them around the enemy perimeter... granted, you'll lose some... but as soon as they're deployed you can call in the heavy artillery from ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE ****ING MAP.
Hell... I just section off my Juggernauts in groups of 4-5, and detail them to sniper teams. Sniper team1=Juggernaut squad2, team3=squad4 etc....
If you ask me this far surpasses the Venom/Lasertank practicality. Definitely think the venom reflective range should be extended.... even if they can link across the map... (but really, how practical is leaving 5-10 airborne/stationary Venoms for reflective purposes?)
I just thought this a extremely easy approach to butchering base defenses/internals. Yay for artilery. (Extremely effective if coupled with the Radar scan+EMP Artillery to take out power/base defenses.)
anywho... there's my 2 cents.
oh yeah... and Zone Troopers are ridiculously good at killing EVERYTHING.

I was originally going to say that playing defensively is a bad idea, but after reading that part about multiple sniper teams calling in several strikes at once, I gotta admit that you've found quite a strategy!
Only downside though is that it might not work too well against the Scrin, judging from the fact that they have such an extensive airforce...:|

Juggernauts will work better as turtle breakers than turtlers. Since you're not attacking your opponent it won't be hard for him to find and elminiate your snipers.

Why is it that I just knew you'd be the first guy to critique his tactic, Derek??? :looklive:

I hadn't even thought about the scrin lol... too caught up in the demo... so that is a valid point...
as for the vulnerable snipers, once you have the Nauts you've got the major unit-expenditure thing taken care of seeing as you won't be losing any, so it's not hard to replace the snipers, but better yet, drop a team of vet snipers in w/a Zone Trooper drop pod... 3 squads of zt's is more than enough of a diversion, and besides, all you need is the attacking units to be stationary and you can bring in the artillery on em...
but this is a very rough and relatively untested strat... I was just throwing it out there cuz I liked the approach. :chin:

True. Although it sounds good on paper, we don't know how it will pan out in an actual skirmish.

Because I post so much and no so much about RTS?

Its not a big cost, you're right, but you just won't be able to keep them alive long enoug to really use your Juggernauts in most cases. The Zone Troopers definately will help, that late in the game their hardly "enough of a diversion", but they will probably survive long enough to give you a few more rounds from the Juggernauts. A better idea though would be to attack with Mammoths, and then use your Juggernauts while all or most of his resources are devoted to stopping these.

Workable... but it ruins the rather cheap pricing of the tactic. If that is the case, you might as well just storm in with Mammoths and Juggernauts only.:|

The tactic was never cheap. You're forgetting the fact that he has bunkered down with immense defences (which also require immense power). In fact, the Mammoths would probably cheaper.

Haven't..
.....tried..
..demo..?!?
:wtf:
Order a cpu off newegg and overnight it RIGHT NOW. I mean seriously.. what're you thinkin?? the game's out in like... like... 10 DAYS!!!
If I wasn't a ridiculously poor college student I'd go just buy one for you and get ship it to you. (I'm a bit of a fanatic when it comes to c&c...)
So maybe a squadron of Firehawks w/ 1/2-1/2 loadout just chilling behind the snipers for backup? Just spinning variations for the fun of it. :)

this tactic is good and i do use it alot; but i do make an army and play normal. you just make 6-8 jaggs and 3 snipers and sneek them into the enemies base. and keep bombarding his tech building while i make an army of mamoth tanks.
when snipers call in arrtilly they are unstealthed for a short while. so if you use it rarely like i said above always takling out his tech building; he cant tech up :P
True. Although it sounds good on paper, we don't know how it will pan out in an actual skirmish.
you probably will be hammered to shreds before you can setup those juggernauts
they are in fact valuable as a defensive measure, as well as 2 mammoths and a rig

yea i love those rigs. if you have an amry of mamoths u sahould have a few rigs also. i normal make 1 rig for ever 5-15 mamoths; this way they can repair after clearing an area; and get ready to clear an other area :D
