Hi there, recently I bought a new PC with an ATI Radeon x1050 and have started playing the demo, unfortunally it looks like my new pc is stil too slow to bring high quaility graphics on the screen, I am not sure if is simply the card, configuration or driver, I am working with the 7.1 version and here are some specifications of my pc:

PIV 3.2 GHZ
1gb DDRAM
200 GB SATA harddisk
win XP

Any idea to improve the quality and performance of my pc?
Thank for your help.

I have an PCI-E 7600GT - Works a treat, not to expensive (I run the game on high, full AA).

Mine is PCI-E too, but it runs like crap dont know what's going out with this Pc, well, perhaps I need some new program, would check more online to find a solution.

The Radeon x1050 is a very basic card even though it is PCI-E.

I have a 6600GT in my PC, AGP version, and i can run the game with mostly high settings at 1024 x 768 and seems smooth enough. Yet to try the 6800 i have

It looks like I would have to buy a new target for this game (I read this card use the same processor the old 9550, those fragstards of ATI have lost a client), now the main problem is to find a new one enough cheap, anyway, at least I can now play most of the games released during 2005-2004, also Generals runs faster than Sonic

Personally, I use a GeForce 8800 GTS, but that's me. :p

I run the game with everything at its highest, including AA and resolution, and it runs like a beast.

So, I do the same on a 7900 GT :p

CNC3 really is not a power whore, it can run amazingly well on rather weak computers, unlike some games *coughsupcomcough*

I have an nvidia 7300 and it can handle the game well, tough I could use more processor power (T2400 CD). That is a laptop.

My desktop has a 6800 and a PIV 1.6, it's gonna be upgraded ASAP, I don't think "upgrade" is the word, it more like "rebuild".

Catalyst Drivers? what I find a bit ironical is that now I can finally run Generals 32fps in high, but just must play C&C3 in medium quality otherwhise it goes to 15 frames per sec, I mean, isnt so slow but I wanted to play the thing just as it was on the video trailers... hum pehaprs if I sell my DVD player (now I got a dvd room on the new pc) my two old graphic cards and save some money could be able to buy a new card, you are telling me the nvidia cards are nice, right?
What's the most recommendable for a PCI-E comaptible PC?

I have the 7300GS pci-e and I can only play the game on medium settings. Anything higher and I get crappy frame rates. I have 1GB Ram, maybe if I got another gig.....

If only I had money to get a 7600GT :hmm:

Better take a X1950Pro or wait for the nvidia 8600 series or go for the 8800GTS.
The X1950XT is too old and is in a strange price gap.

what processor do you have?

You should buy the 7800 or a better card, it will last you longer, and if you want to play at ultra you should hear me.

Let me share something with you all.

I once had an ATI 9800 and it did wonders, when I compared the graphic results of my GPU aginst an nVidia one (the equivalent to mine) some effects were by far better in the ATI.
for example, in Halo, when you become invisible, the effects generated by the ATIs are way cool, nVidia only made you transparent.

So you shouldn't hurry your decission.

Cash is the name of the problem, I actually got only $150 to buy a new card and would be a bit busy to get more moeny, so my options are not really much :|

Hello this is my first post....

I'm expecting my copy of C&C 3 to turn up this week and was wondering if my pc's specs are up to the job of running it to a decent standard...

Home pc..

AMD 64 3800+
2gig corsair twinx
XFX 7800 gtx 256mb
Creative X-fi sound

Laptop..

Pentium M 2.13ghz
geforce go 6600 256mb
1gig ram
Realtek on board sound

I've read up on the minmum specs and according to them both my pc's should be able to handle it, my question is will it look crap ?

Any help/advice much appreciated :)

Your first config could probably go on all settings maxed out without much of a dip. Your second one on the other hand, is going to go a little lower, but nothing too drastic (all med, maybe one or two things high). If you need to, check out the hardware guide for the game.

I know what you mean...

Well, I can guarantee that the 7300 will work (at least in medium specs - with a few ones in high @ 1280x768), I have tested in high specs and it worked, but the game slowed down.

My advise is that you get at least an 7300, but you should look for the better one you can afford. If you can get a 8xxx (for nVidia) or an x1600 (or better for ATI) will be best.

Too bad newegg doesn't ship orders outside the US. They seem to have good prices.

@ n00bie1kanobi

yop, I agree with shiner980 your comps should handle C&C3.

Don't get the 7300, it'll just be a waste of money and will frustrate you more than anything. I have that card and regret buying it. I can only run the game in medium settings on 1024 x 768. And even then it lags in big explosions. So you actually only get around 20-30 fps. If you go with nVidia, try not to get anything below the 7600GT.

dont worry about it, I run all my games in 800x600 I think it helps to improve the performance of game, well, at least it works for all Dark Crusade, finally I can make videos of this game :D

Weird thing, I don't have the problem with the explosions ... who knows?. But you're right, since the 7300 is the low-end card on the 7xxx family it won't be too powerfull.

It actually does help, the less things to show and the less definition mean less processing time, making the game smoother

Right now I have the ATI Radeon 9250 PCI and its slow as hell so I stoped playing it out of fustration. I discovered that the VisionTek Radeon X1300 is the best card for PCI so I got to save some money for it.

Hello, I'm gonna need some help choosing the new card.

Anyway, I have Radeon 9200 for about three years now. Generals and ZH worked fine (not really smooth, but I got used to it), and looks like it's getting old now.
CnC3 looks so awful. No shadows and ground lighting, particle effects are weird (although Ultra-High is turned on), frame rate is small even on Low settings...

So, what do you suggest? I'm planning to get GeForce 7600GS or 7600GT (AGP).
Another problem is only 512 MB of RAM, but I'll upgrade it to 1 GB.

Specs:

Pentium 4 2.8 GHz
Radeon 9200
512 MB RAM

Thanks in advance.

Look what I have found:

ATI RADEON X1050 PCI-E 256mbs:

RAMDAC (MHz): 400
Memory Interface (bit): 64
Memory Bandwidth: 3.2GB/s
Fill Rate: 1.3gpx/s
Core Frequency: 400 MHz
Memory Frequency: 250 MHz

And now the one I am planning to buy ($75)
XFX GEFORCE 7300GT:

RAMDAC (MHz): 400
Memory Interface (bit): 128
Memory Bandwidth: 10.7GB/s
Fill Rate: 2.8 gpx/s
Core Frequency: 400 MHz
Memory Frequency: 667 MHz

Yeap, I think I got it, at least it looks like Id woul run CNC3 with VFX details :)

I still have an AGP 4x slot which is running my X1600 Pro 512MB fine, but I only get some slowdown if I play a 3v3 or 4v4 when everyone is creating heaploads of units.

My motherboard is my real bottleneck (MSI KT3 Ultra2 w/ LAN)
