View Full Version : Servers down, official site down, official forum down, what's ea doing?!!!

For the whole day now not only the official C&C3 website is down but also ea's official forum.
And I can get no connection in C&C3 at all, so I assume the game servers are down, too.
Can anybody confirm that?

What the hell is going on with ea? The game is four days old, there are three (!) patches and as it seems major problems all around...

Mwaahaaahaaa!!!! My plan is working!!!!! I WILL live to see the day that EA Crumbles!

JK, sounds like it could be a problem with their systems (aren’t I a wise one!)

I think they're having troubles with their ISP.

Umm, who knows. That would mean that game updates are impossible at the moment. ****it!!!:gnasher:

They're probably doing maintenance so everyone can get a good MP speed.

I'm guessing they're doing maintenance. They usually do mainenance on their game servers at least once a week.

Battlefield servers are Tuesday so I guess C&C3 is Monday :)

Ah come on guys, for two days now EVERYTHING at EA is down and you just call it "maintenance"?!
That are the kind of customers EA really must be happy about... ;)
If that was true it surely would be the most incompetent maintenance ever!
Besides: In the official forum was a thread where they apoligized for the downtime and said something about problems they had.
Unfortunately I can't read that again, because the forum is still down, too!

Edit: I was just able to access the official forum, where they wrote:
"As most of you have noticed by now, we’ve been having connection issues with our ISP all morning. [...] These same ISP issues also made connecting to Command & Conquer 3 online difficult for a two-hour span of time earlier in the morning."
Those must have been the longest two hours I've ever seen... :)

oh don't be negative Ice, it was up for about 5 minutes earlier so technically it wasn't 2 days. ;)

But yea, what little faith I had left in EA and Gamespy is gone now and this is the last time I've bought a game from them.
If they can't even get the damned multiplayer to work right there's no reason left to buy games rather then download them.

It's not their fault their ISP is having problems....

be creative people.

I've setup a Den Hamachi (http://www.hamachi.cc/download/) network:

network: DGNF.CNC3
pass: dgnf

Hamachi sets up a VPN, so basically when u join the network, you join a LAN over the internet, to play with someone else, install hamachi, join the network, then when u see some people online you can chat to them and ask them if they'd like a game. Then you can go into multiplayer > LAN, and play together.

Make sure you are patched up to the latest version.

Now "that's" a constructive approach-Kewlness :)

It's reasonable to expect a major supplier of internet services that hosts many of today's multiplayer games (read: gamespy) to be on top of things and ensure a stable connection to their services.
If that can't be provided then there's no reason for them to use the ISP they have now and no reason for us to buy games hosted by them.

Wow, good idea Spider! Up & running here! Seems I'm the only one there tho. Let's test this guys, who's up for a game? :)

Edit - Maybe a sticky/thread of it's own would nice?

Spider786

yes, a sticky would be a good idea, especially if this maintainence thing becomes regular.

It'd be a good fall back in other cases of server crashes, or even just for private den tourneys (hamachi is usually faster then going through online service).

Will have a game in a min Maxeh, just gettin it set up now :) Do you have Xfire?

MaXiMuZZZ

Nope, no Xfire (yet). I'm on there with a friend, 'Gav'. We're testing it now, should work.

Please. So many people have said that; it's lost all meaning now.

This problem has nothing to do with EA, no matter how much you enjoy blaming them for everything.

So they had a little down time, nothing major. Maybe theres an opportunity to play single player or go outside. Stop acting like its the end of the world.

Ok i'm on and ready to play :)

It works! 1vs1 works good, 3 players or more lags quite a lot though. Great fun, first game, 3 player FFA, Stompy won, and the second game I won by testing that MCV rush on him. :D

3 player prolly lags due to someone in that 3 having a bad connection

Anyone wants a game on Hamachi?

Stompy

Max got it to work again :)

Found out this problem affected every gamespy service - fileplanet, gamespy arcade, everything was down or not working. Can't blame EA for that.

MaXiMuZZZ
04-03-2007, 01:56 PM
After some fiddling around I got it working indeed.
If you still experience problems with connecting to the servers, go to C:/Docs and settings/username/application data/C&C 3/profiles/yourprofile (Note: app data folder might be hidden, go to Tools>folder options>view>'show hidden files and folders'), in which you find the options.ini file.
Back it up, and then delete it/move it from that folder.
Should work - if not, put it back, open it in notepad and change "FirewallNeedToRefresh = FALSE" to "FirewallNeedToRefresh = TRUE".

Good luck & Happy gaming! :D
