How Many People Here Still Play Renengade?

Online I mean, of course. I was just wondering, because I would rather like to play someone online one day.
On GameSpy Arcade there are always at least Fifty People online at a time, so I play online allot.

Well, IMO, the only people that REALLY play Renegade (actually try to get better, play online alot) are die hard fans of any and all C&C games. To be honest it's not all that bad of a game. But, if anyone's gonna play an FPS they're either gonna play Half-Life, Halo CE, or Counter strike. It's kind of a dying game.

On that note, I believe that one of the biggest factors of the survival of this game for so long is its uniqueness in that there are not many games where you have a full base and can purchase different types of characters and vehicles.
That is what I love about it!

Yeah, sometimes it can be hard to find a good game going. Oh well, my time is mostly taken up by homework, and if I have time then I'll try to squeeze in an online game of whatever I feel like at the time.

lol st0rm gaming is the best renegade server there is its uptodate and hase its own gameplay unlike all the other random servers this 1 is unique

I should get on some time. Renegade was good fun, but servers always got stuck in long stalemates on maps like Field.

That is why I like timed games or sniper only. The gameplay bugs me now since I have played MOHAA (people just don't die fast enough for my liking.)

The game feels slow now that you've played MOHAA? Try playing Counter-Strike, or better yet, Insurgency or any other ultra-realism game. You don't even know where you're shot from, you just see your screen flash red once, then before you can react you're dead. The only way to kill anyone is to absolutely not be seen.

And sniper only sucks even worse. Its taking one of the worst aspects of Renegade and removing everything else that was good about it. :freek:

I don't mind the sniper aspect of it. Sure it is not realistic but is the halo one too. (i doubt even a super human can keep a rifle steady after firing a 50 caliber round. Besides I choose the weaker one since it can't be seen like the ram jet.

I was just using CS an example of a realistic game where you can die in a few hits. Like I said, in games like Insurgency two chest shots from any rifle is usually lethal, and lets not even talk about headshots. The guns on the other hand have high recoil and spread after the first shot, so you've got to fire them in bursts or its useless. Compared to games like these, Renegade is incredibly forgiving. You can practically take half a clip to the head, no recoil, negligible spread. But the fun of Renegade is in the vehicle combat, base attacking, and teamwork, not in fighting on foot.

Yeah the vehicle combat can get rough, especially when both sides are supported by engineers. Stalemate then.

Yeah, but those are sniper rifles. We're talking two hit kills with automatic weapons.

I still play it daily. It has a total community feel to it, or at least my server n00bstories does. Its like playing with old friends. Plus the blackhand ladder keeps it alive too.

Still a great mp time sucker at 6 and a half years old :-)

i havent played in about a year but started playing when it first came out and am reloading it on my computer tomorrow to start again, hopefully some of the old elite still play
