View Full Version : Renegade Themed Mod for TS/FS

Ok! Here's the deal: I'm asking if I should even attempt a mod for TS/FS based on Renegade's units and buildings. I want to know if anyone would use it. If I do make one, It won't be a very high tech mod in terms of auto-installing and un-installing. (And I can only use the existing unit graphics from the game, unless I suddenly learn how to make new ones...)
If I do make one, should I upload it to CNC-Den? (Or for that matter, would they want it...) I know I've kinda hit the rest of the fan community fast, with just showing up all of the sudden... But I've been privately studying TS/FS and RA2/YR mods and modding for a while now, and I think I could make a humble, well ballenced mod for TS/FS. (Even though I've never played online with those games... (Because of ultra slow dial-up and then "fast" sat. internet. (The sat. internet sends the info in large chunks rather than a continues stream.. (Chunks cause lag...)))) I'm addicted to parenthesis...
EDIT: Eek! I forgot to ask! Is there already a Renegade mod for TS/FS?

there probably is already a renegade mod for TS, and to make new art u need a voxel and shp editor (which are very complicated and tedious to use, anims are frame by frame) and another quick side question; WHY did you bump those year old threads earlier?!?!?

*Awkward silence™* I didn't even think to look at the last time they where posted in... I'll try to remember to do that in the future.

I've decided to show you a little of my experimentation to far. That is for the TS/FS version of the SBH. I made it to be balanced, and to work similar to the SBH from renegade in terms of armor type damage amounts.

A "xxx to renegade" mod is quite useless, since Renegadeitself is just a FPS adaptation of the RTS Tiberian Dawn (C&C1). So it' s much more logical to just make a "xxx to tiberian dawn" mod.

Actually it's like a continuation that is displaced in the time line so that GDI and Nod are developing more exotic weapons (like the tiberium flechet (sp?) gun, and the stealth soldier.).
As to the fact of it being useless, I was talking about just a mod people could play for fun. I'm not talking about a mod that would be widely advertised and play as a real serious thing.
I've already given up on thins one though and turn my attention to a simple fun mod that focuses on expanding the tech trees in utterly rediculus (sp?) ways, with at the same time, making the effects, ranges, and aiming (anti-air, anti-ground), more realistic. I'm going to call it: Semi-Reality... If you have any questions about it, I'd be glad to send you a copy of what I've done so far.

There's already one of these in production for YR. All they need are the buildings and they'd be done.

Ok, do you mean that there's already a Semi-Reality mod in development, or do you mean the Renegade to TS mod I was talking about? I'm out of the loop a lot... I mean, only a few days ago did I even find out that such a thing as Rock Patch exist! I can't wait for the TS version... :hyper: RA2 is awesome too, but I just like the tiberium series better...
This is a little off topic, but I had to say it:
It's really a shame that there seems to be no way of making a mod for Renegade that's an adaptation of RA2: YR, because of all the mind control technology... (Unless I'm stupider than I thought I was.. And don't know about yet another cool modding project...)

RA2 is possible but you can't do YR since you need three sides.

Umm.. Could you explain then, how exactly your supposed to use a character that can mind control others. Let me remind you that the soviets still have the Physic Corp. troops, and the Allies still have the Phys. Commando, Not to mention Yuri himself.
Note: In my previeus (sp?) post I meant to say his, rather that "wish" in the first sentence. Stupid weird typo... (And yes I know I can edit it, but I'm leaving it, so anyone who has already read that post will not overlook the change. Because if they have already read it, they're more likely to skip over it, because they remember reading it already.) Should I become a shrink? Or am I too much of a mental case myself? Oh dear, I feel a rant coming on. :x

Ahh!... That's what I meant... Every time I tried to spell it, It just looked wrong every time, so I stuck with "physic" without even realizing THAT IT WAS ANOTHER WORD ALL TOGETHER! :gnarly: Well anyway.. How can someone is a FPS control two character's at once?..
