you need the terrain expantion for the program. You can probably google it. Google: Final Alert 2 Terrain Expantion(or somthing like that)

Do you have Final Alert: Yuri's Revenge? or just origional Final Alert? if you have the origional Final Alert the map might have been made with a type of terrain not supported in the origional Final Alert. You will need get the YR version (http://www.wagnerma.de/yinger/showdownload.php?detail=2) to open the map.

You could always just make your own damn map.

Its an undocumented feature of all versions of FS, FA and FA2 that they will not open maps when a certain change is made to them. RA2 itself isn't as picky about the change and will read the maps regardless. All the veteran mapmakers from way back when FA and FS were developed are aware of the feature as it allows them to stop less experieced mappers from ripping off their work. Of course I doubt there are many mappers now who are even aware of this 'feature'. Anyhow, I suggest you ask the original creator of the map how to open it and see if they give permission. Personally I don't agree with this sort of protection since I and many others learned much about triggers and such from looking at the original WW maps so I see nothing wrong with others being able to look at our work, even if it does mean that a few bad seeds will abuse the trust. But thats me and not others so I won't ruin the feature by broadcasting how it works. Carefully looking at the differences between normal maps that open and ones that don't will reveal the change.

I offer all freely with a very big however. I have yet to see someone learn from one of my survivals. They usually add some rocks, remove my credits and call it their map.

That’s why only my survival maps are protected and will stay that way.

If you want to know how to do something just ask.

I also went through this and trying to learn from his maps but in the end you learn more by trying things yourself IMO.;)
