I repeat, Reykjavík has been overrun!

I just started playing C&C3, and you can not imagine my surprise when in the text while the second mission was loading, it said "Reykjavík has been overrun". I wonder of what military importance Reykjavík will've been in the Tiberian world... And to make it even better, today we were talking about the possible strategic importance of Iceland in Icelandic history. We concluded it was none. :p I guess EA must feel differently.

(Also: The game's much better than I thought)

PS: I live in Reykjavík.

PPS: I just wanted you to know all of this. :p

Reykjavik is the main GDI surface-side HQ in the world, due to it being on an island with a minimal tiberium infestation and with no bordering Nod hotspots. It's easy to defend, at least until Nod over-ran it (but it gets liberated anyways).

Which second mission was it, because I don't recall?

And if it makes you feel any better, the prologue mission can't be anymore than half an hour from my house. Its hard to tell exactly, but its definately near where I live.

EDIT: Ok, here are some pics. The Prologue mission takes place here:

I live in the western part of 5:

So I'm going to say that the Prologue takes place somewhere around Greensboro, #3 on the map, just east of me. (FTR: ImageKlonoa lives at 6, and Treacherous Mercenary lives somewhere around 2)

Also, Iceland is designated Blue zone B-14 as far as I can remember.

Reykjavík is where they make the mammoth tanks i think

plus its a blue zone on an island, what more could you ask for

What are the seas like in the world of C&C3? That'll be the main question. If you can still sail ships, Iceland will still be major strategically important for that reason alone (Cold War style Greenland-Iceland-UK gap, anyone?)

But if all the seas are chocked full of Tiberium like in that shot of the Golden Gate bridge, (we'd all be screwed), then... Um... Not.

Is hammerfest still around? It was important in TS, but they've kind of disappeared.

Yeah, Hammerfest is still active. Saw it in one of the database reports, I think it was 'Ghost in the Machine.'

If I remember right in TS they said that travel by sea was nearly impossible because of the Tiberium growth in the seas. But already in two missions of TW playing GDI, I've seen ships, and they were critical parts of the mission. Whats up with that? Or is my info wrong about TS.

I don't remember reading that the seas had been overrun, but it wouldn't surprise me. I never got to play Firestorm, and also I didn't know anything about Tiberium Floaters (lol) until recently.

But there have been lots of changes between TS and this game: The switch to tracked vehicles over walkers, the switch of Tiberium to generic green crystals. Several others. I kind of get the impression a whole different set of writers are behind the game.

And in their defence, if the seas were all that bad, everyine would be dead already :dead:

Maybe its only in red zone sea areas, eh?

certainly does seem like they have messed with the story a bit

i would go along with the idea that only red zone's boardering sea would be full of tib floaters

I can go with that.
