Can't install power saver!

I can't install Toshiba power saver on my laptop! It is a Toshiba Satellite A45-S121 with Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2. When I install Power saver (downloaded from the Toshiba website) it goes fine, but when the install is finished, after I click "Finish" there is a "Fatal Error". Could somebody please help me?

Have you updated your bios lately? Also what option are available to you in Cmos?

1. What is CMOS?
2. It goes straight from the Toshiba startup screen to the windows loading screen. Nothing in between.
