Don't take the preview for full detail, WB doesn't show much detail zoomed out. This is a "RUSH THE MIDDLE" map. If you don't get the middle, well then, you're gonna have a hard game. But you can always sneak around using the land bridges to the North and south.

Well, that's an interesting layout! I think you have to learn to use the smooth terrain tool though! Seems you've got a lot of harsh edges and the paint strokes are also very obvious. Try to vary brush size, and use a combination of height, mound and smooth tools to create good, realistic looking terrain. You should also vary textures a lot more than that. This is something I'm seeing on many custom maps - the lack of diversity. But take your time and you'll learn it! You have to take your time to pick out textures that'll fit together, make a palette of them, and then just go paint! Try have some geagraphic logic behind it - cliff textures go on the cliff, have some dirt below and grass above. And in the grass, try to put in some dirt strings and spots. Vary the grass also, by picking a greenish grass and a yellowish grass for example. Obviously you don't have a lot of grass on this map and you shouldn't have so much either. But in your case it's a lot more the varying of the dirt textures that does it!

Good luck.

The layout for my maps are usually and almost always going to be rush for the middle. I love those kinds of maps as they encourage rushing and defending more than other fronts but you also gotta defend the land bridges to the south and north.

Yes I know I fail at texturing, I really am not good. Smoothing will work in time, but I don't know, I just don't know what looks good! ;(

I'll try, thanks for the feedback. :D

Blotch texturing menas using very large tiles when creating a diverse look, however, what is best is when you use smaller textures and not make then as "circular".

I try that but it always weird to me... I guess I want it to look REALLY nice and realistic and trying too hard but I just can never say it looks good so I erase and retry... I'll get it soon I hope...

texturing is something that cannot be learned easily, it takes skill and time. Time you need and skill comes with time, so what you really need is time^2 :)
