View Full Version : Hazmat Zone (don't worry, thats just working title)

After the success of New Eden, GDI became confident that their sonic technology could be used to clear the whole world of Tiberium. This was the theory that lead to the events in a small red zone zone, nestled in parts unknown.
The cleanup was quick. within the year, it seemed that all Tiberium poisoning was gone. Within five it became a bustling cultural mecca. it seemed like the greatest place to live on earth.
Eventually, paradise soured. Babies began to be born with birth defects usually attributed only with Tiberium exposure. the weaker of the citizens began dropping in great numbers, and GDI engineers realized something had gone seriously wrong. GDI launched massive excavations deep into the ground and found huge catacombs and tunnels of solid Tiberium running through the earth. the groundwater had become tainted, and The occasional crystal shard would even poke its head above the ground. REalizing the sonic emmiters were of no use underground, GDI began a massive harvesting operation, excavating most of the cities center. The digging tore up the entire city, turning once bustling streets into deep craters resembling some desolate martian wasteland. The operation eventually had to be considered a failure, as constant NOD terror strikes usually involving tiberium seeding, and the attack of the SCRIN near the end of the third tiberium war. The city was abandoned, and GDI left with its tail between its legs.

Generals traversing this territory should be extremely wary of this area and tread lightly. Many of the mutants hired by GDI to aid in the mining have remained, taking up arms to protect their land. Viceroids lurk at the central tiberium pit, just waiting for prey to walk by. However, those willing to take the mutants head on may be able to find the silos and mining equipment left behind by GDI...

This is my first map, i wanted to make a blue zone but still be able to make a desolate waste.

BEWARE, my screen size is 1680X1050, so the pics might be pretty large

A The highway stretches past the excavation point. A quick makeshift bridge was constructed to keep traffic going.

One of my favorite areas, and an area i hope to do alot with. A small spring comes out of the desert sand, but don't drink it, its tainted. (yes theres a dead carryall in there)

How do you people texture that good? I just can't do it right. :uhh:

we keep on trying, untill we get the hang of it. Turn all options on in the view menu, and press the middle mouse button once: there is your actual ingame view, it looks a hell of a lot better now :)

Too many colors for my tastes, looks like something out of a Dr. Seuss book. Also, I would recomend using smaller tiles when painting to avoid "blotch" effects. Although one cannot deny the effort and time used to crate the map with all of the texturing, small details, cars and crates.

sorry for making y'all wait, a whole lot of crap hit me at once, and i couldn't get any work done. I have some schoolwork and stuff to do for student govt, but i'm hoping to have the map released this weekend.

(and i fixed the colors so they don't clash quite as much Kinetic, thanks for catching that)
