View Full Version : Map loading slows/stops down at 97-99%

Hi

I made this remake of Twilight for me and my clan mates but I'm not 100% happy with it I have consulted manuals and forums to try to find an answer and I found no answer to my problem.

I have attached the map (Link) (http://www.filesend.net/download.php?f=d5bca0120438baed865c590533ee3919), so if someone could please have a look and maybe tell what I'm missing its with all limits inregards to objects,size etc I have also added the base perimiters for the AI but no pathways yet.
My intial aim is to get it working well in MP so I really want to figure out what it is that makes the loading slow/stop 97-99% and then kicks in to the game?
I have try'ed to scale clouds,effects everything down to see if it helps but still nothing :(

loading on custom maps is always slow @ 95+ %, you will just have to be patient, and I donno why that is.

and for the AI, I do not believe that pathways are as nessesairy here as it was in generals / zero hour. Maybe someone else can clear things up.

I've noticed that with my custom maps too, I think the way that C&C3 loads data from custom map files is somewhat different... (The original maps all have associated bin files which probably has cached content of some sort)
These bin files are usually upwards of a few meg. As it would be a pain downloading this extra data for custom maps, EA probably decided to make it so custom maps auto generate this data when loading

As to the pathways, looking at the included multiplayer maps, there do not seem to be any scripts or pathways of any sort stored in the map file. Either the AI no longer needs pathways, or the AI is automatically generated for each map... possibly during that 97% loading stage?

Since you still need the trigger areas I guess they will need the pathways I will check the manual to see how to make the AI work and see if that sorts out the hold up.

Other then that plays well :D

Edit:
Turns out its the cutsom TGA :( no fix til EA fixes WB so it makes its own TGA's

My belief:
When the game loads your computer, or everyone's computer regenerates the Map.XML and the Overrides.XML files as well makes temp Map.Bin, Map.Imp and all those other files that makes the game/map/loadtime faster and run more smoothly; Even better then bfme2 or generals with high graphics on with the same PC. Don't worry its for the better, if it didn't happen I bet you wouldn't even be able to play your map.:cool:
