Does the auto-Download thingy work for anyone? When I host a game, the game starts, but either the screen turns into the "disconnection menu" or it says "map could not be uploaded to gamespy, aborting" etc.
Has anyone else gotten the autoDL feature to work?

I tried yesterday. It says its connecting, then it transfers the files seemingly OK, then I get to the loading screen which gets stuck on 99%. Checked afterwards, and friend didn't receive the map (it wasn't in app. data/cnc/maps)

Hopefully ea / gamespy will fix this otherwise the mapping community is gonna get owned.

you guys havn't noticed yet? the only thing that can trasfer is the .Map files the other files are created by the user that is geting it trasfered to him thats why the loading stops at 97% for everyone on custom maps, creates all the other files including TGAs/mini-maps.
this means you can't trasfer your own made mini-map, you cant edit it, it has to be that black *****, EA updated the worldbuilder, but crapped out the trasfer system sorry to say :irked:
I've testing it and basicly the only way to make a trasfer work about 50% of the time is to just have the map file it self, nothing else, no mini-map, no XML.overrides. nothing. :gnasher:

They'll probably fix it with the new patch. Hopefully... :D

trust me, it is already there and it is being worked on for the "Big Patch"
they dont need more people posting it on there forums... they already have hundreds of idiots posting "EA you suck fix this NOW"
so for now just zip up your custom maps and send them to Lion then tell your friends to download them from here. easy enough, problem is, poeple are lazy...

no xml overrides? I made a map the other day, didn't edit anything specific and still it had 'n Override. What does it do then?

the map itself makes a few for options on the worldbuilder, probibly my guess is lighting, but what i mean is eidting the XML.file overrides to allow new units, edited units, new weapons, heroes etc inside your map, sort of like a temperary mod within your own map.
This is the main thing i did in bfme2, i made gladaitor maps where it completelely changed the gameplay, and i made new heros/units and abilities.
First thing I want to make is make a hero stealth tank that shoots avatar lazers at air or ground units, auto heals, has more armor etc...

That's great to hear... and yeah, only few players actually come online to look for maps. At the moment if you make a game using a custom map the room instantly gets filled with players, so I can't wait for the big patch when you can actually play them.

Well after alot of testing transfer work some times and some times not but if everyone has the map when starting the game no worries but so far I only managed to get one game going while transfering.

I sent the map folder to my friend, he installed it in exactly the right place, and yet it still said "X does not have the map, it will be transferred at game start." I'm stumped.
