View Full Version : Creating Blue Zones - Volume Texture

Hi all,

Doing ongoing work on my Blue Zone map, but have run into some troubles. I want to get a Blue Zone look similar to how Washington DC looked in the single player game. However I'm having trouble achieving that "look".

Washington DC had a very white look to it. The footpaths (which I'm using the exact same ones) are really white in the single player, however on my map they're grey.

As far as I can tell my problem lies with the Post Effects. I have copied the settings of another Blue Zone map, however I've come to a problem with the "LookupTablePostEffect". In this setting there is an option to select a volume texture. In the DC maps they're set to DCWashington_vol. However I can only set mine to Default_vol (which makes my map completely pink.)

I've searched around for this DCWashington_vol file (using a .BIG editor to view the game's files) but with no luck.

Does anyone know where I can find/access this file and its settings, or am I on the complete wrong track anyway? Any advice?

Thanks to anyone who's able to help.

Ah yeah I've tried this too, clouds don't appear and I'm trying to get a decent 'red-zone' cloud effect, however, it points to the same type of file...

we need the right mod solfwere first, untill then i will tell you how to do what u want,

Copy the offical map with the post effects, then clear everything off the map plus textures, then remake your own map with the offical map's post effects.

You have to find the file that is required and put it into your map folder, if I recall. No clue where to find that file though.

Yeah I thought about doing that too. However my first map is almost complete which I've put too much effort towards to want to start again. I guess I'll just wait for another solution, heh.

This is why I was searching for the file itself too (with no luck :( )

Thanks heaps for the input all.

To Romav:

Make zero byte file and give it the name DCWashington_vol.tga then when you are asked in the editor for that file load it from that, it should work :)

Edit lightrays do work i just had my settings on med :)

i cant seem to get light rays to work this way though :(

Hi Jetbright thanks for your suggestion. I gave it a try and it lightened the map up in a way just not as much as the Blue Zones in game are lit up.

Looks better than it did though so at least it's a step forward :)
