View Full Version : Black Shroud issues

First, been a long time user of the Den for all of my downloaded maps through the years for the C&C series, but new to PC map editing itself (but have extensive console map editing experience with FCI/FCIP...check out "phidave's" maps at fcmaps.net).

Anyway...I've read thru the "ReadMe" file, and all of the way through the Manual and have not found the solution yet for my problem. Here it is...I've made my first map...and after a bit of trial and error, it works as expected (for a first attempt that is) except for one thing...

- The Black Shroud never lifts off of the map.

Now what I mean by that is this...if I'm looking directly at my forces/buildings in a specific area (let's say my primary base), I can see them just fine. However, if I have a second base set up, I can only see the "colors" of my units through the shroud(indicating that they're there)...but cannot see the ground around them unless I scroll directly to them?

EDIT: BTW? The mini-map looks just like above...black with a few colored specs where my units (and sighted enemies) are located.

I hope this makes sense? So the question...what could be causing this and how do I correct it?

Thanks for any assistance anyone can provide. (BTW? I'd be more than happy to email the map file to someone if that would help?)

Thanks again!

It sounds like you just have a black mini-map. http://forums.cncden.com/showthread.php?t=19795

Yeah I wondered about that...but would that effect the main map also?

I don't quite understand what you mean about the main map. You mean the shroud doesn't reveal outside your start location?

EDIT -

It WAS the issue with the mini-map! Fixed it just now (and am really jazzed that I did it right) ;)

Thanks for the assistance and to Lion for the directions on how to fix the mini-map. BTW? I don't have any of the editing programs mentioned, but used MS Paint and then MS Digital Image Editor and it worked just fine that way! Thanks again to all!
