This is my first map (and post :P), called "The Negev" (named after an area in Israel).
This map is basically just a desert map.

Here's a screenshot for a general view:

Use cliff textures and rock textures on mountain and add more textures. Two textures isnt exactly terrain.

Yup. Try to mix and match textures to make it more eye pleasing.

And also try to stay in one countrys textures. For desert maps I recommend the australia set.

Check the following link for advanced map texturing. Required reading for anyone wanting to make a realistic map, or improving your texturing skills. The tutorial was written by hawk10314 who has several maps in the DEN's C&C3 featured maps section. He knows his stuff.

NEVA!

Also, you could use the cliff making function to make better ramps. An easy way is to simply create the mountain then from the starting height of the mountain go down by increments of 10 or so using a brush roughly 8x8 moving it side to side to the length that you want the ramp. With a little, and I mean little, bit of practice you should be able to get it working.
