Yes, there is a fire near my place of residence. I know that basically none of you know me, but I thought I might as well say something. I may have to evacuate from my house, and I've no idea as to where I'll go if it's burnt down.
Some of you on the West coast of the U.S might've heard about this. I live in Avalon, California on the island of Catalina.

Do you live in a complex? I don't think fires tend to spread so fast these days. Hope all goes well, mate. I doubt you'll be harmed, tbh. :)
Another fire in California? :dead:
What do you fraggers do? Coat the trees in gasoline?
All the best though, hopefully they'll manage to contain it before it reaches your area - Afterall, they should be well practiced by now!

EARLY SUMMER? Man, it was still snowing and crap just last month. So I'm confused as why it would be "early summer". :p

Southern California is notorious for wildfires, has been for years. The area around Los Angeles seems particularly noteworthy for these fires (probably due to the proximity of the fires to a huge population). I think it's pretty dry in that area with plenty of dry brush, so small fires can become big fires very quickly.
I hope your house survives. I think I heard that the fire was starting to come under control, so hopefully an evacuation won't be necessary. Do you have any family you could live with if you do need to evacuate?

Just got back from the evac and my house is fine (Thank God...). All of my family's fine as well and my hastily disconnected computer runs like the day before the evacuation.
The fire's now just a smoke cloud surrounded by firemen and marines.
And to anyone who watched the news, they said the fire was a monster long after the thing went from devouring wildfire to miniature campfire. At about 11:00PM, it started to look like it was just a guy with a candle.
The island itself is safe as well, and I don't think any homes were actually burned down, just a warehouse in the canyon is what I heard.
I'm still somewhat pissed off that Paris Hilton got airtime while my island was on fire. :squint:

Anybody who has sex on film is more important than a burning island. :p
Joking aside, great to hear you and your family are safe. ;)
