I was just wondering, is it possible to add some sort of transmitter to a normal router to make it wireless? That is, attatch some small piece which transmits the stuff from the router, but in a wireless way. Does that make sense? If so, is it possible? If so, do you know what that piece would be called? :p

Hmm, I have two visions on what you are trying to say...

If you are just going to mod your router (taking it to pieces) by placing a transmitter in it, I don't think it will work because your router has firmware designed for the tasks it was originally meant for and it is not advised you install firmware not designed for that router.

But if you are going to buy a wifi transmitter that you can plug into your router via Ethernet, then yes you can (I am not sure where you can buy it though).
But in my honest opinion, I think you should buy a wifi router, I have a D-LINK DI-524 which can connect 4 computers wired, as well as other computers that are wireless, setting it up was hastel free for me. You would save up on cluttering the area around your computer

here is the simplest solution you can possibly hope for. Go to Best Buy and by a LinkSys wireless router. plug the blue cord into the back of your existing modem and plug the power cord into the wall.
