View Full Version : CNC3 on a Integrated Video Card?

Is it possible?
I try to run the campaign, and the game exits.
I play a skirmish, and I'm able to play until I view the enemies unit... and that's it.
I know you don't use integrated cards for gaming. I've been able to run COH, on very very low settings, but it doesn't even crash.
Any ideas? Or is it not physically possible to get CNC3 to run on my computer?

Depends on the integrated video you have. If its older then i wouldnt expect it to run at all. The newer stuffs ok for light gaming, its probably a driver problem, update them and see if that solves anything.

No luck. I already have the up to date video drivers.
And my version is 915GM .

The 915GM graphics core is DirectX 9 compatible, but not entirely DirectX 9 compliant. The 915GM uses a total of four actual pixel pipelines available. Other graphics processing features, such as the vertex shader, must be emulated on the CPU instead. In contrast with other graphics processors that implement DirectX 9 completely in hardware, the performance of the 915GM vertex shader and thus, overall 3D performance, hinges on CPU power and capability. 3D graphics performance scales directly with CPU clock speeds. Since the CPU and graphics subsystem share memory resources, the 915GM will always run more slowly compared to a stand-alone graphics chipset with its dedicated video DRAM. Additionally, the CPU's front side bus speed has very little influence on graphics performance.

Based on that in depth explanation of the 915 by nuclear and what i read http://uk.gamespot.com/pc/strategy/commandconquer3/show_msgs.php?topic_id=m-1-35393320&pid=932602 here about the thing failing the vertex shader version i would say it comes under the category of "works but not supported" So if its crashing every time you see an enemy its probably never gonna work properly. Doubt theres a way to complete c&c 3 without seeing an enemy unit :p. No worries though, you can grab a card that can run c&c 3 for real cheap nowadays, if its a desktop you have. Laptops which usually run integrated graphics are another ballgame.

Doesn't work for me on 945GM either. The one time i did get it to work it was about 5fps at 800x600 low settings, not playable at all.

Butter dumpster. :tantrum:
Thanks guys. I'll just have to wait until I get my new laptop come college in August. Maybe I can get the game to work on my old desktop back home.

At least you're video card is much better than mine, Intel Extreme Graphics 2. I'm planning to get a laptop with the 7900GS or ATI 1900 this summer.

I'd go with the 7900GS, Nvidia is much better in my opinion since they are built for gaming.

I suggest getting the New Nvidia DirectX 10 Video Cards (Think it's the 8800 or 8900)
They are Superior :p

Why not the ATI HD 2900 series?
