Hidden treasure...I'm sure we've all dreamed of finding that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. In THIS STORY (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/18736741/), that's what happened somewhere off the coast of England...booty worth and estimated half a billion bucks! Well shiver me timbers, that's booty, err I mean billion with a capitol 'B'. I had the itch of finding hidden treasures about two years ago. Went and bought myself one of them metal detectors, then started figuring out what I was gonna do with all the money I would discover buried in the ground. To date I estimate my detecting finds to be around $58.27 in coins. I probably spent ten times that amount in gas driving to places I've searched over the past several years. I don't believe I'll make the Forbes Richest List anytime soon. Anyhoot, I get excited when I hear my detector's beep sound off. Just like Forest Gump once said, life, or in this case metal detecting is like a box of chocolates, ya never know what your gonna get.

Man, that must have been awesome to find that ship and then see all of those coins there. Let's hope the people that found the treasure spend that money wisely. Most likely they'll spend it on trying to strike it rich again.
I used to have a metal detector, got a couple of lucky breaks but mostly it was nothing. There really is nothing like hearing that thing go off and then getting something good. :D

My biggest find was a silver half dollar piece...found a few silver quarters as well, but nothing major that will put me in the record books. :D

Those metal detectors are mainly meant for the elderly and those who are disabled but still want to do some kind of activity that involves some moving around.
Besides, the odds of you striking it rich with that thing are said to be at somewhere around 125-1.

I don't know how the hell those odds were calculated but 125-1 sounds very good to me!

Dunno where you get your info, but you have no idea what your talking about. You obviously have never gone metal detecting. Depending on where your looking, and what your digging in, it's hardly action for the elderly. It involves quite a bit of bending over and sometimes the digging can be strenuous to say the least.

The commercials only advertise for the elderly, I have a hard time believing they would actually do anything like that

I have seen these guys on the So Cal beaches with their metal detectors and they kind of look a little shady to say the least. They are usually in their mid 40's to mid 50's. I can see digging in the sand at the beach here because in the summer there are lots of peeps around and plus it is easy digging. I kind of compare to saving aluminum. You do make some money but it doesn't make you rich.
Anyway lots of luck LION you old scallywag! :hyper:
