According to THIS STORY (http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/O/ODD_TRAIN_DERAILMENT?SITE=FLTAM&SECTION=ENTERTAINMENT), a railroad tanker car filled with Coors beer overturned and spilled it's contents in downtown Denver. If that would have happened in my neck of da woods, all the rednecks for miles around would have been on hand and fillin up their jugs. I live at the foot of a mountain, and on the mountain about half ways up there use to be a very wicked turn before they widened the road back about 20 years ago. Occasionally the brakes on tractor-trailers would fail coming down the steep mountain side, and of course they plummeted off the cliff at the sharp turn. Peeps would come from miles around to scavenge through the wreckage. There were trailers filled with frozen hams, Hershey's Chocolates, canned goods, clothes, and a number of other goodies. Stuff would be scattered for hundreds of feet, and those crazy people would climb down there to get the free goods after the cops left the scene of the accident. Heck, I got a neighbor that picks up dead deer and other game off the local roads. If it's a fresh kill, it goes in his freezer. Well, waste not want not I guess.

Kind of sounds like having a metal detector without having to pay for it, or like dumpster diving behind WalMart. You guys really know how to have a good time out there.

You all were probably out there puttin' banana peels on the road waitin' to hear the slid marks!

I work for my grandpa who runs a tow business, and we would get stuff from semi accdents every once in a while. Last summer we had a semi with huge rolls of paper for drinking cups that ran off the road when the driver fell asleep that we ended up keeping the paper, which im told part of caught on fire week before last. They were huge roles, I think like 1.5 tons each. We have also gotten semis that had tons of beans, so we had beans for a long time as did everybody we knew.

About 10 years ago a semi filled with printer paper wrecked so we ended up getting a semi load worth of paper. My grandpa donated a bunch of it to my elementary school, but even with that there was so much that we are still using it to this day. We havent had to buy a single sheet of printer paper since, although i think we are starting to run low but im not sure. Im just hoping a truck filled with computer parts to crash

Pardon my ignorance, but don't the semi owners or the people expecting the shipments demand you hand it over? I find it a little odd you could keep all that stuff from the semi accidents without having someone complain.

My dad used to run the First Urban Fiber plant here in Maryland; they can pump out DOZENS if not HUNDREDS of those 2 ton rolls a day, and it's 1/2 automated.

Be happy though; that paper is 99.999% pure pulp, which means it's so awesome to use with other stuff.

Coors aint that great anyway.

On a side note however. Wouldn't a Semi-Daily blurb be twice a day, what you are looking for is a Bi-Daily Blurb. :p

edit: looked it up, no, i guess is wouldn't

That gas would just go up in a giant fireball anyways. Cheap gas is loooooong gone.

Hand what over? Don't think you quite understood. When those trucks went over the side, the trailers would open up, and of course spill their goods all over the mountainside. They wouldn't be able to salvage perishable goods, and other goods like cans, etc. would be damaged. The trucking companies were responsible for cleanup of the crash site, but it was usually a few days before that happened. So the locals helped themselves. Don't think the trucking companies cared if they did since insurance would cover the loss of the load, and I never heard of anyone getting into trouble.

Usually, largely depending on the severity of the accident, they typically will come and get their cargo, but sometimes its not worth it to them to even bother, so we end up with whatever it is.

um... what if the driver dies in the crash? going off a cliff might stop the driver from looking for fallen goods...
