Does anyone know if you can get the official maps that you can play in skirmish's and edit them in the world builder. I have tryed to find them in the program file of Generals but have had no luck in locating them. Any help is much appreciated. :D

This belongs in the Zero Hour Map Modding section, though if I knew I would still tell you :)

Actually it belongs in the mapping section. You need a .big extractor and look for the file MapsZH.big

Follow these steps to open up the official Generals or Zero Hour maps (depending on which game your using.):

1) The maps are located in the game directory in a .big file called "Maps" for Zero Hour it's called "MapsZH". To open this file, you need to download a program called "FinalBIG". Go to this link to download it http://cncden.com/cncgen_utility_downloads.shtml, scroll down the page until you see "-FinalBIG V0.2 (.BIG Editor/Extractor):"
2) Now download to a folder of your choice & extract the files.
3) Open up FinalBIG
4) In FinalBIG, open the "Maps" file in the game directory, for the Zero Hour game directory open the "MapsZH" file.
5) A list of all the map files & their corrisponding file such as .tga, .ini, & .str. Select the map of your choice, (usually you'll see two files with the same name of the map your looking for, the top one is the .map file & the lower one is the .tga file. Select the .map file.)
6) Go to the "Edit" menu & click on "Extract"
7) In the "Save As" window, go to the "My Documents\Command & Conquer Generals Data\Maps" folder. For Zero Hour go to the "My Documents\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data\Maps" folder.
8) Create a new folder there & give it the same name as your .map file.
9) Open that folder & save.
10) Extract any more other map files to the same folder such as .ini or .str. (You don't need to worry about the .tga file. One will get created when you save this map in the world builder.)
11) Close FinalBIG
12) Open world builder.
13) Open the "Open" menu & select the map there you just extracted. (If you don't see it, then go to your map folder & make sure the folder & the .map file have the same names. Also make sure that the map folder is in the "My Documents\Command & Conquer Generals Data\Maps" folder. For Zero Hour go to the "My Documents\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data\Maps" folder.)
14) Go to the "Edit" menu & click on "Map Settings"
15) In the "Map Name" text place you'll see a name, delete it. That name lets the game know it's an official map. When the game sees that name in a custom map, it gets confused & won't allow the map to show up in the "Unofficial Maps" list in the game. Also, keep the map name blank, if you type your map name there like "Battle", then in the "Unofficial Maps" list you'll see "MISSING: 'Battle'". So leave it blank in all your maps.
16) If you want to rename it your can either:
A) Go to the "My Documents\Command & Conquer Generals Data\Maps" folder. For Zero Hour go to the "My Documents\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data\Maps" folder. Rename the map folder & the .map & .tga files to your new name.
B) Save your map to a new name. Now go the "My Documents\Command & Conquer Generals Data\Maps" folder. For Zero Hour go to the "My Documents\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data\Maps" folder. Open the old folder & copy the .ini & .str files there if you extracted any. Now paste them into your new map folder.
17) Now the map is a custum map! It's ready for editting! Have fun!

These next steps will allow you to moddify the official maps in the game!

1) Do steps 1-6 above.
2) In the "Save As" window, go to the "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer Generals" folder. For Zero Hour go to "C:\Program Files\EA Games\Command & Conquer Generals Zero Hour" folder.
3) If you don't see a maps folder in the game directory then create one called "Maps"
4) Open that folder & do steps 8-12 above.
5) Now open up the the "Open" menu in the "File" menu
6) Click on "System Maps"
7) You should see the map there, if you don't, then use the same techniqu used in step 13 except the map folder is in your game directory.
8) Leave the map name alone.
9) The map is now ready for moddifing!
10) Be warned, if you try to play this map on multiplayer a mismatch window will come up & end the game.
11) To uninstall the map, go to the "Maps" folder in your game directory. You can
A) Delete the map folder
B) Move it somewhere else
c) Change the name of the map folder, all you need to do is add a "1" or something. As long as it's not the same name as the .map file in the folder. You can change the name back to it's original later to reinstall it.

I hope this works for. Don't hesitate to reply any questions your might have.
