Buying used expansion pack on eBay

I've been playing Generals for awhile and want to buy Zero Hour. I use PayPal pretty often so I thought I'd buy on eBay. I see there are a lot of used discs being sold and was wondering how that would work with online gameplay?

If someone else has already played online with these discs will I still be able to or will I get some "Invalid serial" error?

Just thought I'd ask the pros before I do any spending.

If they made a name already u should be able to make another from fresh start... I am pretty sure no My documents information travels from the disc, so u should just make a new one... if u decide to buy it...
