Interesting story HERE (http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/O/ODD_WRONG_HOUSE?SITE=FLTAM&SECTION=ENTERTAINMENT) about a fire department that was using an abandoned house as training exercise for their fire crew. They performed their training exercise on the wrong house...WOOPS! Hey, mistakes can happen. I did the very same thing about 12 years ago. I had contracted to tear off a roof on a garage and install new shingles in one of our local towns. Arrangements for the new roof was done via phone. I hadn't visited the job site, but I did have the address. Just a standard garage roof...no big deal. I remember well the day I and my crew tore off the roof. I remember commenting that the shingles we were tearing off looked kinda new to me, but the description of the garage matched from my conversation with the owner, and we were on the right street...so everything is cool. LET'S RIP IT UP! About two hours into the job the next door neighbor comes over and says to me..."It's funny your putting new shingles on that roof. He just had them done about 3 years ago." That was NOT something I wanted to hear. Anyhoot, I went to my truck to double check the address I had. Yep, the garage roof we should have been working on was two houses up from the one we just tore the shingles off of. Talk about feeling stupid. Funny thing was, the garages were both the same size and color. Needless to say, that was a costly mistake. Lucky for me the owner of the wrong roof I tore off was understanding. But what the heck, he got a better roof than he originally had, plus it gave all his neighbors something to talk about for a few months at least.

...reminds me of the time I had been out drinking heavy and rolled up to the wrong house and went up to my bed only to find a strange young girl in bed!

Sucks for those firemen. :p Looks like they might be dragged into paying for the homeowners' renovation for them! :chin:
On a sort of tangent... do you know if contractors usually pay back "overhead" costs? And what's a reasonable contractor's fee, for a home remodeling: 13%, or <10% (of the basic cost of remodeling)?
Sorry for being rather off-topic, but my mom wanted me to find out for her, but I'm not experienced enough to know, and I don't know where to start looking, either.

Yeah, that place sucks. And it's tough to find the correct addresses there, too. Trust me.
