Zero Hour problem with Vista?

Hi
I have just installed the C&C Zero Hour to my new laptop with 8600GT video card and Windows Vista Home Premium.
The game starts ok I installed the latest updates, I can play skirmish games ok, but when I try to play multiplayer games in Internet it throws me out to the desktop with the message that a serious error occured. Does anyone know what that might be?
Is it an incompatibility with vista and how can I solve it?

well I wouldn't use vista for gaming but I don't know anything about vista so I
