Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the last book in J. K. Rowling's fantasy series, has broke selling records all over the world. In the USA alone for instance, the hardcover book sold at a rate of more than 150 copies per second for the first hour it went on sale this past weekend. Roughly around half a million copies in the first hour, give or take a few books. Over 8 million copies have been sold in the USA so far. Fans went nuts at my local book store and of course Wal-Mart. Made the front page of the local newspaper. Since I don't have much time for reading, I'll wait for the movie. I understand that two of the major characters die in this final book. I suppose those of you who have the book know who they are, and if I felt energetic enough I could search the net to find out who they are. To be honest, I don't really care cause I just don't understand the popularity that surrounds the Harry Potter books, or even the movies. I didn't think fantasy was the in thing any longer, but who am I to argue with the millions that are hooked. Whatever turns your spokes I guess

More than two die. That number is from a comment she made a while back where she said that two characters died that she had originally planned to keep alive, and 1 got a reprieve.

yeah, I do not understand the popularity around this books/movies, but as M2M said, who cares? (well, obviously there're those who care, but not me):p

Ah, I'm with ya'll on this one- I don'ts understands why Potter franchise is so friggin popular, maybe the series provides the perfect world to escape to for people's tired subconciousness, I don't know.
Whatever it is though, I ain't putting my buck into J. K. Rowling's fat pocket.

I am not into the Harry Potter hype, I got better things like C&C for example...

Anyhoot, I wonder if Harry Potter gets sucked into a jet engine in this one...

Calling HQ, something went into my Firehawk's jet intake, looked like a pointy hat boy on some stick, lots of blood coming from the jet outlet...

Don't feel bad lion. I'm even sitting here trying to figure out why everyone is potter crazy. I never read the books. Only books i read are Tom Clancy's. As for movies... iv seen bits and pieces and to me it wasn't really anything spectacular to me. Maybe because it's focused on kids more. Back in High School, i had high schoolers talk none stop about harry potter and the movies.

It's not appealing to me as a movie to me. Idk...

Well if you haven't read any of the books then you wouldn't be expected to understand why people like it so much. I'm not saying that you should read them or that everyone who reads them will like them, but if you want to understand why people like it so much then you have to have read the books (preferably in order, although the later books tend to be better, you won't understand much if you start in the middle).

Yeah, I was thinking the same way, I'll try the thing before I naysay at it- so I tried reading first two books that I borrowed from a friend, and watched first two movies- nothing. I guess chasing flying nuts on the brooms, and boy witches just doesn't do it for me.
Alright, alright, just kidding.

As a matter of fact I have read the books. And I have read Deathly Hallows 2 times already (yeah... I know).

I told my dad while waiting in line at Wal-Mart to buy some clothes that Alex would probably have been waiting at the bookstore for it to open. He closed the paper he was reading and pointed at the front page: "That her?" Hehe. It was.

Anyhow, of course, people here went nuts too. Except our Waldenbooks is a Cafe. :p
