I just got the CNC Generals/ZH pack for my last birthday (which was awhile ago) and i immediately installed it and almost chewed off my fingers waiting to install. It ran perfectly fine, i was having lots of fun playing online, and all seemed well.

Untill the day that microsoft released the XP service pack II.

Now almost every CNC game after RA2/YR crashes as soon as i start it (it literally loads all the way, i see the menu screen for a split second and my comp restarts) I have this same problem with Renegade and even Tiberain sun has started randomly crashing while i play it.

Does anyone have the slightest idea of what happened? I have the RADEON 7500 graphics accelerator card if that makes any difference

Also one other thing: My mother's computer does not have a graphics accelerator card, and i tried playing both generals and renegade on her computer. Although generals runs excruciatingly slow and renegade runs with some lag, neither games EVER crash. Not during loading or gameplay.

Should I just get a new graphics accelerator card?

A new card would help of course, but then if you're doing that, you start down the "Well some more RAM would be nice...and a better processor..." road.

Have you tried just rolling back to before SP2?

what do you mean, "rolling back"? And also, i was already planning to get some more RAM after i got CNC3 and my processor is fine. All i need is the GFX card and i'm all set.

Rolling back - the opposite of updating. Putting your PC into an older state. So if it's now XP SP2 with some errors, try taking off SP2 and just living with SP1, if that's possible.

ermm... how exactly do i take off SP2? Do i just go to Add/remove programs? Sorry for the stupid questions but im not very pro when it comes to computer hardware and software and crap like that.

If you down loaded the service pack 2, you should be able to go and remove it through the add/remove programs. There should also be a system restore option that you can select to an earlier date, a restore point prior to getting the service pack.

alright thanks guys! I uninstalled SP2 and all my games are working again!! W00T!!!!!

Also, since i am getting a new gfx card for CNC3 anyway, do you think i should try upgrading to sp2 after i get the new card?
