View Full Version : How to avoid SCRIN shielding vs superweapons?

**NO SPOILER**

Was looking at the GDI's alternative ending movie (the correct and incorrect way so to speak)
But doing so i had the oppertunity to bomb the SCRIN controller building with 2 Superweapons, so i did.

Apperently in my carelessness i missed out on a Scrin mastermind or phase shield (?) who created a protective shield around the building, blocking BOTH Superweapons and failling my objective (not that i couldn't kill it with planes lol ).

Anyway i Imagine that in multiplayer games vs real players these shields must be used quite often vs superweapons or bombarding important buildings (tech centers ect) making an attack utterly useless!

Is there a way to counter this? Or do you just have to wait/provoke the scrin player to use the shield and attack after they used the ability.

*edit: Name topic not entirely correct :) vs SW & (bombing) attacks ect.

Well, in multiplayer a SW almost never gets to be built... but whatever, there's no counter I'm aware (with the possible exeption of destroying the required building - can't remember the name).

Anyway here's a trick: a diversion attack. But I'm sure Derek will enlighten us.:D

There is no counter to the Stasis Shield, which you deploy from the Stasis Chamber. It's instantaneous and invincible, and you can only wait it out.

Although I'm not sure what effect destruction of the stasis chamber would have on the shield.

I'm quite sure the shield would remain. Knowing the SAGE engine, the shield is itself an object totally independent of anything else once spawned. The shield is quite small however and there is not telling where a SW will strike, so its hardly an effective counter.

Does this mean we can't put a shield over a shield? :chin: (woot woot, double double, obviously scrin is trouble)

Well SW might have been a wrong choice of Words.

But if GDI or NOD would make a major bombing run with there planes and you would shield the target, would the planes still try and bomb the target or just see the target as invalid and stop attacking?
(sorry for a noob question but it intrests me)

Also killing the Stasis Chamber first would indeed be a good idea, this removes there ability use the Stasis Shield :).

if the shield is activated BEFORE the bomber drops the bomb, the bomber will drop the bomb to other enemy unit/buildings nearby, but if AFTER, the bomb will drop to the ground without exploding.

But there are still 2 questions:
1.if I make the shield on a deploying sevyor(forget the spelling, I mean the vehicle that could be built from construction yard, used to develop new lands...), does the deploying progress will stop and restore after the shield is off?

2.if I make the shield to one of the teleporting orbs(very sorry for the name, I mean the Special Weapon of Scrin, used to teleport unit from one location to another), and send several units to the other orb, what will happen to those units? cannot go in or go out from the shielded orb of the other side and also been shielded or go out without shield?

The deploying process will stop and then resume when the shield goes away.

No idea, thats an interesting idea, but I'm guessing it won't work.

by the way, I couldn't find the detail number of the special weapons and abilities for Nod GDI and Scrin. For examples, the gdi radar scan's recharge time and radius, the nod's shadow team enforcement recharge time(sorry for the name... shame on me...) and other game related and more detailed numbers could nowhere be found, such as the health of one piece of tiberium crystal and the garrisonable structures and the bridge... ... where could I know those numbers?

Most likely within the .BIG files, you'll need "FinalBIG" or "Xurc's XCC universal container reader" (or something like that), if you give a few days I can give you these tools, but it'll take a few days, perhaps you want to google for it.

EDIT: I was lurking in the Modding section and found this thread: "how can I get a big file worked???" (sorry, no link), there is a link to download FinalBIG there!
