I'm having a problem with windows freezing up on me every time I try to run a video file of any kind I recently installed a new video card from a ati 9250 radeon 256mb pci to a nvidia geforce bfg 6200 oc pci video card my system specs are P4 intell celeron
80gb hard drive
2 gb ddr ram
nvidia geforce bfg oc 6200 256 mb pci card
yeah I know pci cards and celeron processors suck I just want to get this computer to run decently untill I am ale to upgrade to a whole new computer thanks in advance.

did you uninstall the old ATI cat drivers and replaced them with the new nVidia forceware drivers?

also could be virus or anything like that (can never rule them out with lockups and freezes)

^Check that, and make sure your computer isn't overheating.

Yeah I uninstalled the old drivers and installed the nvidia forceware drivers but I'm still having problems and my games are locking up and I get the blue screen after a few minutes. I checked in the task manager it says my cpu useage is at 100% and that is when my comp locks up is that a sign of overheating and if it is what can I do to stop this? I run norton 2006 anti virus I've checked for virus's and can't find anything I also use adware and spybot killer and still can't find anything that could be causing this.

well like MercZ said the only other thing i can think of right now would be overheating

download and install something called PC wizard or Speedfan, both progs are free and will let you check the temp of the CPU. they will also tell you if its overheating

I just reinstalled my old video card and everything went back to normal when I pulled out the nvidia card it was really hot so it was the card overheating all along thanks for the help anyways guys.
