Thinking of picking up C&C 3 since I have been a fan of the game since the old C&C days :)
Since my mod idea if focused more on fantasy not battles of mass building of units for tank rushes, one way of gaining more units is by having units capture enemy units and draging them back to the main base. So basically after your unit kills an enemy and you are not in the middle of fighting you could have one unit drag a dead unit back for converting to more skeletons.
Was thinking if units are dropped by a building that converts after a set amount of time they are converted to skeletons.
Can this be done?
What? Did? You? Just? Say?
Well, I suppose it could be done if you use the same mechanic as the Tripod/Juggernaught/Avatar husk system, whereby if one of them is destroyed, a husk capturable by an engineer would bring that unit back online. In your case though husk=dead body and engineer=soul perhaps? However, this would mean that you would have to create a static dead body model for each unit.

basicly I want to know if it would be possbile to make it so enemy units once killed can be picked up by a collecting unit that collects dead units.
Could this be done in the C&C3 game engine?

Good idea :)
I am a modeler so making static meshes would not be a problem.
So would be possbile to make it so the soldier unit picked the unit up from the battle field? so it looked like the static mesh was being carried?
Basicly thinking about collecting like how in the movie ALIENS the aliens collected the colonists and carried them back to their hive.
Thats like what I want to do for my mod for my units.

Regarding a pickup anim, I am sure it could be done, it might be complex, but I am sure it can be done - just thinking of the variety of anims that are already present. And as for poly count, I do not know, since I don't know the average unit poly count in TW or of those units :).

If you don't mind being a little lazy, I think it might be easier to adapt the masterminds teleport ability, and teleport the corpses back.

Wow, that's a darn good idea

:P
So how would this work? Would you have just one specific unit type collecting corpses, or would any unit be able to do it?
Also, would units be brought back through souls (if fantasy type) or cyborg implants (if sci-fi)? or would "working" parts be put into a building, and then a "full working" body comes out the other side? Say 5 dead men make a new man?
Also, would you limit how many units can be built, and then make up the rest of the army with converted units? Or would battles simply be fought with preset units which can be brought back to life by bringing them to some secure area?
Finally, is there any proposed release date for an alpha version? :)

also I think you could try and maybe make a different type of "tiberium" that a unit drops and a "harvester" unit picks up and takes back to the "refinery" to process into whatever you want it to be, so maybe instead of getting 1400 per bundle, it's say, 1 -10 whatever and that's your cash so you can keep it low. Just a thought...feel free to expand, if i knew more what you were trying to do I could help out better, and also the imagine I don't think they'd be that high poly, depends on how large you make them.
