View Full Version : Heavy armour vulnerable on the backside?
I've read it somewere but I havn't gotten the time to test it myself.
Can anyone tell me if the armour on vehicles like medium and high armored tanks (Tripod, mammoth,Avatar and predator, Scorpion Tank, Devourer Tank) are more vurnerable on the back side?
So if i take rocket squads and sneak behind a tank platoon and shoot them will they do more damige then shooting on the front side of a tank?

No idea about this at all, what about from the side to attack?
Where did you see this?

It's from a while back..

Fanatics are very effective until the railgun upgrade finishes. Once railguns are done though it will become nearly impossible to get the fanatics close enough. Railguns are really overpowered against infantry.
Another thing I forgot to mention is that while your scorpians are engaged you can take a few stealth tanks around and attack the Mammoth from the rear, it will do 50% more damage.
Gues this answers my question, but wondering if this is still the case (hope it is :p)

Yhe from my understanding most vehicles have weaker armor around the back, that’s why cnc3 has the reverse move so you can move your tanks out of a battle with out them exposing the rear armor and there for not taking much more damage.

There are a couple of vehicles this trick doesn't work with though. The Nod attack bike is one such unit, and I think the Tripod is like that too (though I'm not 100% certain on the latter).

But then again, wouldn't the tanks move slower when in reverse?

...As far as I can remember they do move slower.

None of u answered the issue at hand, reverse moving is made for that purpose, and if u don't hotkey it now, learn it
hitting units in back cause 50% more damage, at the sides, about 20%-25%
The tripod will not fire two cannons when it moves back, and it cannot reverse move, neither can the bike, neither the venom, the corrupto, and most of the scrin alien bug units.... don't back up with seekers or the laser one, they usually go flying into the enemies grasp.....
Infantry do not reverse move
