I just found out that the original tiberian dawn gold is a free download from EAs main cnc website, and that made me wonder, does anyone actually play the old tib games anymore, I know for a fact that the RA2,Yuris Revenge, generals and zero hour, renegade and cnc 3 communities are still active and people still play these games, but what about the original RA and its expansions and the old tib games and expansions, does anyone still play them anymore?

I've got them on T1D but I'm trying to finish off the RA missions first for ol' times sake.

C&C:RA1 and C&C:TD used to be my favorite games, but these days I mostly play C&C:RA2:YR.

I actually just finished playing Nod mission 7, but got pwned hard in the following mission in which I had to capture a GDI base with virtually squat in terms of units... really discouraged me big time!:dead:

I have the old cnc game n64.... if I want a good laugh, i'll plug in the gameshark and send one lightinfantry and use ion strikes and instant nukes as the light infantry die and keep sendng them.... until I win, I won all the missions on the n64 b4 the gameshark, but the ones on the computer seem harder....

maybe because they don't have cheat codes and you have to really play to win em'?

And that my friend, is why computer games are infinitely less popular.

I'm pretty sure that you had to cheat to beat the final GDI mission, cause the comp is glitched in that game and is actually capable of launching MULTIPLE nukes with no cool down in-between them from the temple.

Um, not on the last mission.... I beat the game b4 I had the gameshark, butI think the trick was to pick which map u were going to play on... (3 choices each, my enemy didn't get to use their nuke... nope, would have died if they did... most of the time....)

I usually play YR. Once in a while I'll go and play TS.

Really? Which one did you pick? Mine was the one where you start out with a lone MCV that immediately gets harassed by a tank, and you have to wait and run until the Mammoth comes to save you.

I usually play the one where a flamer tries to kill it, but u got a medium tank to kill it...

I remember the Sarajevo mission...
If I remember correctly, Nod only fires the nuke once you attack the Temple. I figured that out the hard way one time, then played again and kept an MCV away from my base. Worked and I was able to win the map, I believe.
(Aw, Hell, I think I just necroposted. Sorry, didn't notice the date.)

No kidding.
I never bothered with the old games; I play the more recent C&Cs, often shifting to YR whenever someone calls to play me.

There's one map where they can theoretically fire it up to three times if you're not careful, even if the temple is lacking power. It happened to me once, not 100% sure on which map though.

I disagree. A lot of the difficulty back then didn't come from the AI or some neat situation, but rather from overly tedious trial and error (the GDI Commando Mission) or downright cheating comps (Conyards that build Conyards or don't require adjacent buildings).
