View Full Version : Need a cost/build time suggestion

I took the NOD Fanatic and made it a single unit, no longer a squad. Increased it's sight to 99999 and made it unselectable. Thinking a fanatic would be a bit crazy and hard to control, he's made to be built then runs off to kill whom ever he choses. He's strong enough that all units are one hit kills, but again you have no choice who he targets. Think along the lines of the seeker from TS. I have no idea where to start the price or buildtime at, or if anyone even thinks it's a good idea. So any comments are welcomed.

That sounds pretty cool - I would like to know how you did it, because there actually ssems to be reminants of Hunter Seeker references in the files when I browsed through many of them, and if we could bring back the hunter seeker, it would be quite cool (and infuriating, lol).

All I did was change the hand of nod command set to NODFanatic instead of NODFanaticSquad, creating one unit instead of a group. Bumped the vision way up so it can see across the map to find a unit to kill, lowered the shroud clearing range to 1. I plan on eventually making it a unique unit, if i can ever figure out how to make some art.

That, sounds like fun.

Maybe you should put the price at 1200? or 1500? and build time at ..say 30 seconds? Thats about how long an annihilator takes, maybe i'm wrong, and it should be 15 or 25, but yeah.

lol are you high? its one guy, he only damages 1/5th of a scrops health dude.

a normal group of these guys is 800$, there about 5 of them yes? build time is 8000 millasec ( 8 seconds) seen as you have no control this makes him worth a lot less because hes was more stupid.

I would:
Cost 75$ - 150$
Buildtime 1 seconds to 2 seconds i say would be good, unless you changed his weapon damage and radius.

r u mad? if he just spammed these from 3 barracks, the game would be in split second gone, because of this... since they kill units instantaneously...

I'm just in the test and play around phase right now, I had thought maybe moving to a different structure and making a minor "superweapon" out of it. Hypothetically something like a 30 second build from the conyard, long enough to avoid spamming but short enough to be a harassment unit in keeping with the nod tactics. But with the use of squads now, i'm not sure how effective it would be to use. Yeah it may choose to go after an avatar or tripod, or it may go kill one guy in a rifleman squad. The more i mess with it the less sure i am i like it. But either way I'm going to finish it just to be done with it

Why not add a small area-effect bomb to the fanatic then if you are worried about it only blowing up one rifleman?

No im not mad; can you read? or are you mad? read the first post if you can, only 1 guy in the Fanatic horde, hes unselectible, you cant command him, he just goes randomly runing towards and enemy like a normal Fanatic just that he is alone runing like a zombie; looking for somthing useless to kill, they would be near to worthless.

And if you'd read it properly, he also states that the fanatic does enough damage to kill any unit instantly ;)

CCA has a good idea, area effect would make him a great guy to use. Also, how are you modifying his health? Will he be easily killable, or is he going to be unkillable? (even unselectable can be killed if you let him run to defenses or your units fire on him).

Not if it worked like the Seeker in Tiberian Sun. That thing could be quite annoying at times. It came from nowhere and hit you in the face. "GAH! It destroyed by war factory!"

u r insane, because if they r so little in cost and less time build... all u need todo is spend ur money on them... because if they kill every single unit on the map in a matter of seconds...

2100/75.... 28 of the fanatics for one load of green tib, 56 for blue tib, and if they come out in less than a second.... the enemy will be dead in less than a minute... by just two loads :eek:


2100/150.. 14 fanatics, 28 for blue tib, enemy is dead... just a bit longer

DUR? because they r so powerful, and so low cost, ur reasoning is completely caput
