Too easy :p

I picked the one with far more power and arguably more character depth: Sephiroth.

Darth chops off his son's hand, and carries a lightsabre that can cut through (mostly) anything, and his mental capabilities are in check. His themesong is shared among the entire Empire.

Sephiroth kills Aeris, and carries a long-ass sword that prevents the use of Phoenix Down (resurrection), and is in-****ing-sane. He has his own theme song.

I voted for Sephiroth.

God damn, this is a hard one... but, I guess I'll vote for Vader, since he pretty much is THE original Big Bad, you know?

This is a hard one, both of them are pretty bad-ass, but I'm going to have to go with Sephiroth. Even though I've never played FF, he just seems the more evil of the two.

Daishi

Good points. Vader has one advantage so far: he's older.

I've never really liked Japanese RPGs so I have to go with Vader.

Sephiroth. . .has his own theme song.

When did the Imperial March get erased from time?

Daishi
09-04-2007, 07:31 PM
It's the Empire's theme song, not Vader's.

SgtRicko

It's kinda both, really. One could say that they're interchangable as well.

No. That's its name, but not its role. When Vader's an option, why would anybody vote for anyone else?

(When I wrote this, it was in reply to Daishi's post)

Probably because Sephiroth could kick his ass at any stage in his life.

Also, the Imperial March is used throughout the Empire during the movies and games whenever they're introducing a showcase of power (or after they've won a battle) as well as when Darth Vader shows up. ;)

Aye... I was saying how Sephiroth has his own theme (Which even mentions his name constantly in it.) While Darth Vader has to share it with the Empire.

Thing is, Sephiroth's theme song isn't 100% original, (some parts were taken from some medieval poems and such) but Vader's is.;)

Statalyzer

It's the Empire's theme song, not Vader's.

Vader's presence is what makes the song so powerfully ominous (besides the song itself being badass of course).

However Vader being (arguably) the Empire itself, therefore the theme song is Vader's, besides Vader dresses in black, carries a sword that can cut through anything but the rarest metals, and can kill people by looking at them, I think that's pretty bad-ass. Plus his name is oh-so-much better, I mean c'mon Darth Vader versus Sephiroth?

Derek
09-04-2007, 08:52 PM
Yeah, really. Here is how the fight would go:

Sephiroth: You can't defeat me! I'm a one winged angel with an outrageously long sword!
*Darth Vader rips Sephirth's sword from his hands with the force*
*Darth Vader force pulls Sephiroth towards him*
*Darth Vader cut off Sephiroth's wings with his lightsaber*
Sephiroth: No, please, don't!
*Darth Vader chokes Sephiroth*

You see, Darth Vader didn't even have to say anything!

I knew this one was coming...like 2 weeks ago :p
well the choice is rather difficult, Vader has his own legion (the 501st) and can likely go decimate anybody with his fleet, not to mention his skill with the force, Sephiroth has no qualm about killing anyone know gets in his path to the sake of his "mother". though would do anything violent to not dance to a certain MC hammer song :shifty: not to mention he is several times harder than the last boss in KH2 (tried like 40 or so times then stopped to preserve my own sanity.) and unlike Vader, Sephiroth managed to resurrect himself more than once so despite my avatar, I will have to choose Vader

Okay, I guess he does share it with the empire. I'll have to watch the movies again to be able to say anything proper about that. But even if Sephiroth has his very own individual theme, his theme isn't:

Nor does it even come close.

Found this really hard. Both are baddasses. Both kill whoever get in their way.

But only one has a lightsaber.

Vader, because I have never seen or heard of Sephiroth before.

I vote Vader.

Vader was emo most of his life. And is out shown by most other sith lords, Vader is all image, nothing more.

Sephiroth was created, in a lab. Was never on any "good" path, and went quite insane almost immediately upon discovery of what he was. And at the same time, was SO badass, they cloned him, ALOT.

SirSnake
09-05-2007, 04:08 PM
no, anakin skywalker was an emo most of his life.

Vader is badarse to the bone :p

Right enough Vader is arguably the most powerful force-sensitive sentient in the entire history of star wars, and 1vs1 could easily destroy anyone.

Secondly, see sterios attachment.

Thirdly see rolk's post for vader's accessory.

Fourthly, hes darth vader!
(and also, star wars > FF IMHO)

he officially became vader, before his troubles on Mustafar, where he was still quite whiny

its also arguable that he wasn't, That Luke was, perhaps Sidious was, midiclorian count doesn't mean **** if all you can do is choke a bitch.

Secondly, see sterios attachment.
Still shared it with the empire. it was called the "Imperial March" not, the "Look at my Shiny Black Helmet Strut"

Thirdly see rolk's post for vader's accessory.
Cold steel cleaving flesh is more badass, especially when that steel is longer than your body is tall, REGARDLESS of how cool the concept of a laser sword is :p.

Fourthly, hes darth vader!

it's a good thing were comparing the people, and not the stories then, isn't it :p

true

true, although ive always thought that darth maul (possibly the only good thing to come from the prequels) was the most awesome (even if not the most force powerful) as he owned vader's previous jedi master and his master (ie obi wan and qui gon SP) at the same time.
but its an internal star wars argument so i guess a moot point :p

ah yes but you hit on a good point for vader there; he *does* have a shiny black helmet, with strut!

Im gonna have to say no to that, a laser sword > normal sword, even if it is longer than your body (Vader > william wallace, for example :p)

it's a good thing were comparing the people, and not the stories then, isn't it :p

true! :color2:

If you could call the Death Star and the rest of the Empire's military strength a possession of Vader's (which you can't), like you could call Meteor a possession of Sephiroth's, then maybe Vader would have an advantage as a villain to offset his major physical disadvantage.

All right, here's a Link to Sephiroth's theme song so that everyone who hasn't heard it can stop assuming automatically that it doesn't beat Imperial March. (http://rapidshare.com/files/53689674/Advent__One_Winged_Angel.mp3.html)

Vader can also stop vehicles in his presence.... the powers of the force... and then there is a guy who is repeatedly cloned... with blade of not life, put up against the one who is better of boss and talents....

Good, but not better than Vadar's theme, especially after went more towards a hard rock style, ruined the whole feel (ultimate bad guys really shouldn't have hard rock themes).

Voting against the #3 Villian of all-time in favor of some Stupidoth who has a decent rock theme song?

Voting against the #3 Villian of all-time in favor of some Stupidoth who has a decent rock theme song?

First of all, this is only the most recent version of the song. It was originally a chiptune, then an orchestral piece like the Imperial March, and this rock one was the version used in the recent movie Advent Children.

Second, see the rest of the thread for reasons Sephiroth > Vader

Finally, Sephiroth doesn't qualify for a list by the American Film Institute, although it's clear Darth Vader, being more well-known in America, would win such a popularity contest. Duh. :|

And yet Vader has still doubled Seph's votes. (At the time of posting).

Seriously though, you can't choose either of them based on a theme song, we're voting on the character not the music.

Knowing both characters pretty well I'm going to go with Sephiroth. Sure Darth Vader is kickass but, he was manipulated by Darth Sidious(Palpatine) into turning to the dark side. Sephiroth killed, destroyed, and brought utter chaos to the Earth, not only for the good of Jenova( his mother) but because he enjoyed it, while Darth Vader only followed orders, occasionally killing one of his own men because that person defied him, or was just incompetent.

That was basically before the accident turned him into a mechanical monster: afterwards, he was pretty sociopathic and heartless to everyone.

Though I must admit, Vader is nowhere near as psychotic and ruthless as Sepiroth can be.
