View Full Version : Anyone else noticed the prism towers on ToE are different?

On the map Tour of Egypt it only takes two prism towers to destroy a con yard or any single unit in one hit. On other maps you can have multiple prism towers and they still don't kill the thing in 1 hit.

Why is this?

EDIT: Also on a related note, sometime gap generators can be deployed.... A deploy cursor appears over them and if you deploy them they suck up like 10x more power but don't actually seem to do anything, whats that all about?? I encountered this ages ago on the 8 player snowy map with gems in the middle, don't remember what it was called. Whats the deployable gap generator all about?

The first is the absolute damage bug. It occurs when the [General] section is modified without redeclaring the PT's damage modifier tag.

The second is the gap gen 'overcharge.' It was supposed to increase the gapping radius but the idea was scrapped before release. For the record, you need 9999 extra power to make this happen.

Hmmm i see. Interesting.

What does the "[General] section is modified without redeclaring the PT's damage modifier tag" that mean? and how does it link in with ToE?

In ToE, and several other maps, Westwood modified the [General] section, which determines a plethora of game, unit, AI, damage and other characteristics. Since ToE uses desert terrain, WW modified the Mirage Tank disguises. For whatever reason, if you do not redeclare PrismSupportModifier, it does absolute damage.

So do all the desert maps have this increased double-prism power bug?

Any map with a modified [General] section and no redeclaration of PrismSupportModifier do. It's not exclusive to desert maps.

I remember once screwing around with the gap generator overcharge thing. It was pretty cool.
The prism tower bug, however, I didn't know that. Once again Fenring the Awesome has taught us some new astounding fact.

It's not new though. That bug has been floating around for a long time.
