anyone else crazy about this show? I can't wait for the third season.

It certainly is a rare thing to see an American anime. It's got a fantastic storyline though. I'v always been a fan of the elements and stuff like that so this show was really appealing at first rumor of it. Lovable characters, and diverse at that. ;)

So what's everyone elses view on this show? :chin:

Best show on Nickolodean right now (not counting Fairly Oddparents, since they stopped making new episodes, and the later ones weren't quite up to par anyways). I've seen most of the episodes, but Nickolodean doesn't have a regular enough schedule for me to watch it consistantly. It is a good story though, with surprisingly dynamic characters.

My brother(who is 22) told me to watch some episodes with him and I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed them. It appears to be yet another crappy american anime knock-off, but it was actually funny and you could actually get into the characters. Kind of like the Jackie Chan cartoon show that was on Fox(?) a while back. You'd think it would be ****, but it wasn't.

I voted Fire Nation, just cause I like to blow **** up :). Avatar is one of my favorite TV shows, and certainntly one of the best on Nickelodeon. A few of my other favorites from that channel are Drake and Josh, Fairly Oddparents, and Spongebob (yes, Spongebob), but the last two I've seen all of the episodes a million times, so I don't watch them anymore.

About Avatar, yeah, its tons of fun. I wouldn't call it an anime though, it's just an American show with heavy Japanese influence.

For a pure merchandise/celebrity shindig it was damn good, but it really started to get crappy once it got into that old Chinese wizard guy too much and abandoned Shenlong outright.

Lighting attacks of Azula. :uhh: Sheesh, how would you defend against that?! I mean, I know Iroh has a technique, but that's fire bender vs bender. Earth could probably block it, and air MAYBE able to dodge it. But water would just but messed up unless they saw it comming. :rolleyes: No hope for you if you're not a bender.

I have to agree about the fire nation army, they talk about Aang ending the war with the fall of the fire lord and all, but in the meantime they arnt exactly loseing in their domination of the world. Water tribe barely faught them off had it not been for Aang. ;)

Why would you want to be a water bender? Water is the weakest of the four elements. I mean seriously, what are you going to do in a dual? Give your opponent a bath?

Water bending coule be more powerful than you'ld think though, and you wouldn't need that much water either: Just bend it into their mouth and down into their lungs, causing prompt suffocation!

And I just ordered the 2nd season collection, woot woot.Uh...I haven't heard about the show until now. What is it like? (Air Nomads sounds cool btw).


Air nomads are the most peaceful nation and also the only one where every member is a bender. It's a good show, cheak it out on Nickalodeon. It's bascially about a war torn age where people can manipulate the elements for numbers of purposes.

Thats totally not true anymore! It used to be like that years ago, but now its nothing like that at all. Just a minute ago I was watching part of the Universe series, this episode on the history of the Earth. Early today they had Modern Marvels ("Batterys", they talked about the roadster WYU made a thread about!), something on Boston, something on Jesse James, and an episode of Wild West Tech. I mean they do of course show still show WWII shows, but thats only a small fraction of what they show.

Well, thats about like saying there is to many American's, or Europeans in the world. The Fire Benders live in an empire that is slowly trying to take over the world. The Earth Benders live in a prosperous Kindom. The Water Benders a more like in tribes in the colder regions of the world and the Air Benders, well, they're extinct except for the new Avatar. I forget his name. Anyways, a bender is one who has the ability to manipulate the air, water, fire, or earth. Bend, in this show, is just a way of saying control or manipulate.

Major spoiler warning.
First episode: Aang wakes up after sleeping for a long time. He has hair. The gang is with Socca's (sp) father on a Fire Nation ship sneaking out of the Earth Kingdom. They are revealed but escape. Aang runs away determined to finish his journey alone, but is too weak from his injuries to get far. He washes up on an island and the others (Socca, Katara) find him, and they continue on their journey together.

Second episode: On a Fire Nation island the gang steals clothes to blend in. Aang happens to have taken the clothes of a student and is dragged off to a Fire Nation school. He gets in some initial trouble and Socca and Katara have to pretend to be his parents. At the end of the episode he holds a big dance party for all the students of the school (because they don't allow dancing), but they are caught and the gang flees.

Third episode: The gang comes upon a village in a lake, but the water is heavily polluted by a Fire Nation factory upstream. The spirit of the village "The Painted Lady" starts bringing food and medicine to the villagers, meanwhile the gang is forced to stay because Oppa is sick. Aang tries to catch up with the painted lady to ask for medicine, only to find out that it is Katara. Together they destroy the Fire Nation factory. The next morning Socca finds out what Katara has been doing, but the Fire Nation attacks the village in revenge and the gang must protect them. Finding out that the painted lady is really Katara and is a water-bender, the villagers are about to turn on them, but after Aang talks to them, they realise their mistake. As the gang is about to leave, the real Painted Lady reveals herself to Katara and thanks her.

On the plus side, they're not going to milk the franchise until its dry, drag out the plot with no end in sight, or have tons of filler episodes. I much prefer a series end like that than never end, or end only when ratings finally give out.

the live action film is gonna be awesome. The interview and stuff about it was all on the bonus disk in my season 2 set.

I personally don't mind if a series is milked, but you're right about it needed a good end and Avatar deserves that.

What I thought was maybe do a book of air....it could be a prequal of Aang before he learned he was the Avatar or something....

maybe start over a new seires....featuring the next Avatar in the cycle, like after Aang is long gone or something....though we'd lose all the characters we've grown to love. :cry:
