You've got your Trout in my Salmon! According to THIS (http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/T/TROUT_FROM_SALMON?SITE=FLTAM&SECTION=US) story, Japanese researchers have engineered a way for one species of fish to produce another. Believe it or not, Salmon are producing 'pure' 100% Trout. They'll be trying it with other species of fish too, and experiments are currently being conducted by US researchers as well. The US researchers want to take Trout and make Salmon. Same principal but in reverse. Isn't science grand. My question is, will this kind of thing work on just fish, or could the same principals work with animals? Could perhaps a dog produce a cat, or maybe a cow lay eggs and produce a BIG chicken? Ok, so maybe the egg laying cow is taking it a stretch, but who knows, right. One does have to be careful playing around with Mother Nature. Imagine if they tired to make a shark from a Blue Whale, which can grow up to 110 feet. We'd have one heck of an eating machine that would make Jaws look like a minnow. Just hold on a minute ya goofey Lion...isn't a whale a mammal and not a fish? Errr...yea, that's right, it tis a mammal, which opens up a whole lot more possibilities for experiments. Like for instance, dolphins and porpoises are marine mammals as well. We could have a blue whale give birth to a dolphin and end up with a mega Flipper. When you start playing around with Mother Nature, anything can happen.

#1) I think that when you fell out of bed the other night and hit your head on the dresser, it might have caused a few things to swell up. Maybe the brain is swollen and it is not getting enough blood to certain parts. (like the thinking part) :color3:
#2) Would the trout taste like salmon? You said 100% so I am assuming that it would taste like trout? I would rather have a salmon taste like salmon but who knows what the Japanese are thinking. Maybe they fell out of bed too!
#3) Just don't be messing with tuna fish and trying to get dolphins. I don't want dolphin meat in my tuna.
#4) If a dog had a cat, would the dog would be scarred for life after freaking out so badly?
#5) If a cow had a chicken, better yet a buffalo, we would truly have buffalo wings! :hyper:

Jurassic Park was just a movie, clearly if we create dinosaurs in real life, they won't get out and eat people. Cause that was just a movie, and like everyone says, movies and TV aren't real.
boom, Logic bomb :p

boom, Logic bomb :p
Sure, and don't drop the logic bomb when people inquire about "Dogs having cats". :p
I'm guessing the main reason this is possible is because the genome of Salmon and Trout are quite similar.
Kinda similar like how the frog/dinosaur genome was in Jurassic Park. Just saying, don't **** with nature yo. :p

That was great! A logic bomb! :hyper: WooYoo! The public schools could use a warehouse full of those suckers!
Yeah I read the article, the genome is very similar so they can produce them. Most species cannot mutate more than 20%. If I remember right I think the only exception is the "mule". Part jack*** and horse.

No offense, it must have taken a lot of work to get a Salmon to produce a Trout...but um....can't they just let the actual trout produce trout and do something that actually matters...? :rockbrow:
It's like the guys who figured out a way to solve the rubix cube in less than 19 moves or whatever...That's great and they're smart and all but how does that better the world in anyway...
Now if they come in with some huuuuge breakthrough into something amazing like getting a disease to produce a vaccine for a differnt disease that has no vaccine or something along those lines, I'l take it all back. But untill then...;)

Wonder if this also will pop up on adultswim (rubix cube comes to mind)

Its called Genetic Research, if you don't understand its importance, look it up.
