Why not smart things like replacing lost MCVs, as well?

Here's an idea, set up units with ammo around 5 and fast reload so it's the same timing as normal (no pip). The theory being on a script like 0=Attack 1=Return to base 2=Jump to line 0, the ammo would be the attack duration.
Maybe add an IFV/Engin base patrol team.

All just theory of coarse

EDIT: NM, I tested and it only worked in a special case.
