On my agenda for the weekend is to mow the grass and clean up the walnuts that are falling from the trees in my back yard. You wouldn't believe how dangerous those little walnuts are. Stepping on them can put ya on your butt real fast. After I get that done I'm off to Gamestop to buy World in Conflict. From the reviews I've read thus far, it looks like it will make RTS game of the year. I've had at least a dozen peeps email me this week about the game, and highly recommend I get it. So I'll get it and report back on Monday of my impressions. I'm not too hard to please when it comes to games though. Heck, I started playing PC Games two decades ago. I've witnessed first hand the evolution that took place over the years, and I appreciate the fact I don't have to chase dots on the screen any longer. This coming week I'm getting Settlers Rise of an Empire too. Gonna make sausages, raise cows n sheep, kill wolves and bears, and build my Medieval Empire. I'll have plenty to keep myself occupied for the next couple months at least.

Depends on how UaW does, but its probably the only RTS this year that could challenge WiC for Strategy Game of the Year.

You're making me feel close minded talking about other RTS games while I'v never gone beyond command and conquer. :p Did any of the older ones by westwood every get RTS of the year?

Technically speaking it would depend on whose awards you're counting, since there is no "THE Game of the Year Awards". But yes, several CNC's have one Strategy Game of the Year for various video game media outlets.

Yeah, I am going to buy this game too. I have read a review on Gamespot and other reviews on other websites and all the reviews are positive. Well, sounds good to me.... :D

Well I got into UAW beta and personally I have found it pretty lackluster. Pretty craptacular game. Seems really dumbed down to the 360's level.

How has it been dumbed down? I've been playing it for a while now and every game has gone differently.

Ugh, while I can remember loading games off tapes and waiting 20 minutes for the damn thing to load, I think I have become harder to please over the years. I guess my view is that given they could make great games back then like Dizzy and Saracen with such tacky equipment then there should be no excuse for a substandard game these days.

With WiC I think that it does what CnC3 wanted to do but much better. It has fast and furious gameplay and is awesome for casual multiplayer. However at the end of the day I can't help thinking that all the strategic thinking is dummed down by the insane micro.

Yeah, I'm in the Beta too. The main problem though is that its the buggiest beta I have ever played and everyone online sucks, so I can't make a decent judgement of the game. Its got the most diverse factions in an RTS ever though, and it was definately not "dumbed down" for the 360 any more than CNC3 was. The online service on the other hand, is a PoS. Windows Live makes Gamespy look like Battle.net.

No. WiC and CNC3 tried to do completely different things, comparing them is like comparing Halo to Metroid Prime.

I have a feeling C&C 3 wasn't dumbed down for the 360, it just turned out the way it did because they wanted it to be easy for people to play.

Which is my point: UaW wasn't dumbed down (and neither was CNC3, it just suffered on its own merits).

Ok. It seems that the people who were trashing it aren't saying anything else. We win!:D

Both protagonists are futuristic enhanced human warriors who fight aliens with all kinds of weapons in space with little to no support at times. The only difference is their gender. Sounds the same to me Derek.:|

WiC takes place during the Cold War...

Which had cyborgs, aliens, and starships. Go ahead and wiki it for yourself, man.:p

Seriously though, I was talking about Master Chief and Samus, man!;)

You can simplify any two things that are very different to the point that they seem similar.

Ex: Pie and cake

They're both sweets that you bake.

Ex: World War 2 and the Cold War

They both had the Russians and nuclear weapons involved.

Ex: Halo and Universe at War (you know these are absolutely different)

They both have you fighting aliens from uknown parts of the universe or galaxy and are in the future.

Hey Lion what do you currently think of WIC? I'm to going to get the next settlers game. To see a raise in graphics but still the same game play. All in all great game. Going to be hard playing the other maps tho. Because in the dessert maps your buildings are more likely to catch fire so on. Fun fun.

Now do a virtual reality game and a video game...

Cannot wait for Kanes Wrath... but hope it doesn't take up too much memory...

Hope u've done it well for the sake of probably your own butt...:D

Here, i believe we have different opinions, i still play those old games, some of'em u should recognize, like: SF2, Chelnov, TNZStory, Final fight, Arkanoid, Bomb jack and many more other jewels! Yes i'm a bit nosthalgic. (i named some here hoping for some of u who don't know them to have a google on them at least...who knows...maybe u find something to fit your tastes among them :))

And i'm not that easy to please by new games...they must prove they're worth to be part of the restrict club of my personal treasure chest...(like ZH did where other CnC games failed. My critheria go much further than simple graphical evaluation many ppl do). And this is even more true if we take in consideration the increasing lack of time to play each person have available by passing the years, making every playing time an investment only the best games are worth of.

A big hug to u Lion for being a m8 from the old times. One of those who knew personally what a Spectrum 48k was... Ohh, and what a joy it was to "chase dots on the screen"!...

I guess I'm in the middle ground in terms of game quality preference. That I can still get into a game like Nuclear Strike, or Medal of Honor: Underground after all these years, yet find a game like Metal Gear Solid all of a sudden annoying to play due to the SOCOM and FAMAS being nigh impossible to control definately says something about me... just not sure what, really.
