im an oldschool player on yr that stopped playing this game regularly back in 04'. I hate that xwise changed the old maps for qm and added different sucky maps like defcon 6 and east vs best, and sovreign land. Who gave the orders to make those maps the standard maps? More importantly, why did those wannabe gods change the maps?lol im a former top 5 player and tried qm after a 3 year adsence and got shafted when i saw the different map i had to play and lost my match soley because of that alone.Yr has alot of flammers so pls remember ur manners before u reply pls

IMO, defcon 6 is alright. maps like soevereign land not; that map is turtling all the way. Btw, if you didn't knew: there's an official patch with completely new maps for QM (only though for RA2).

A good map for QM would be Heck TvsT or Heck BvsB.

Yeh, I read it. And that's exactly where the problem is located: you have been 3 years absence. Since then tactics and BOs have changed in YR. You haven't learned those new things since your absence and it's practically normal you will loose then. On the lame maps and and on the normal maps (maybe less on the normal maps, of course).

Why not try, instead of complaining about the new maps on QM just do custom matches or get used to teh new QM maps.

Rank dosent matter to all the decent players in RA2/YR and thats pretty much the only thing QMs are for. It only matters to the n00bs who are desperately trying to get their reputation up in a forum or some other manner of RA2/YR community.

Nobody really cares about your whining and if we don't care XWIS definately wont.

Personally I don't care about the layout of a map. A game is a game. Learn to adapt to a new map, the layout, the size, starting areas, etc. This is what I do. I'm not meaning to be offensive or anything, but don't blame the map for your defeat.

ive read everyones responses and i want to get 1 thing outta the way 1st.

now that i got that out the way i wanna say that most of u guys mainly focused on the secondary part of my greivence.not all but for some of you i want u to imagine playing at a high level and achieving a high winning% on the ladder regularly.knowing every single stretch spot on almost all the maps and (not bragging at all cuz im severly out of shape) putting together long winning streaks while playing stone drunk on both ladder/custom.Here you decide to stop playing for a few years to only come back to see how u stack up with the fellas nowdays.Your waiting for the load screen to finish loading while ur hands are eagerly waiting to tap the select/deploy hotkeys and the game starts and u deploy and the map has snow so u figure its the usual snow valley map that u played a million times on and as u scout u realize that snow valley never had derricks on it then u see bridges and u realize that ure on sovriegn land.Then it sinks in that ur ****ed. You try to keep cool and determine ur stretch spot and realize there isnt one(your ****ed).You say ok no worries ill get that derrick i scouted.You do so only to finish scouting and realize ur opponent moved his mcv to middle where theres a wealth of derricks......oh and did i mention ur opponent was yuri vs ur random selected germany...............OWNED.

In a nutshell,what im saying is that i was ready to match my skillz vs my opponents just for the love of competition and due to the instant disadvantage i wont know now.That crap made me not even want to continue cuz its lbasically learning all over again.I dont have the time i used to years ago to become a hard tuned machine again.

I've never been at the top, simply because I don't play online enough, so I can't completely relate to your situation. All I know is that I don't complain about a loss, well maybe a little because I'm not one who likes to loose. But, I learn from any mistakes that I made, learn the maps layout and try again. Maybe against the same opponent, maybe someone different. And also, if you can't take a little bit of criticism here and there, then stop posting now. You're starting to sound like some of my family who complain about the smallest things. It's annoying, it's pointless, and it accomplishes nothing.

Sorry to say it, but it's pretty dumb that you didn't knew that it was Sovereign Land. For one, before the loading screen appears, you get when you found an opponent information, including the map name. Ok, you could had missed that, but when the game is loading, you get also to view the MINIMAP OF THE MAP YOU ARE GOING TO PLAY. Ok, you could had missed that too due you might had been afk for a moment, but as you said u were eagerly waiting, it's almost impossible you have missed that.

Again, sorry that I had to said it that way. Just to make sure you will not make the same mistake again.

Yo listen, im flattered that you chose to make ur forth post here buddy.as for the maps, ur proverbs and golden opinions sound great in theory but in reality its a different story.If i havent played in a while and genuinly believed that i was on a map that turned out to be dramatically different vs someone that most likely is more fresh and familiar (which he was cuz he moved his mcv) with the map then in reality and not in theory I ask u and only you.What does the law of averages say about my odds of winning?Since ur so generous with ur pearls of wisdom i have one for you.

Believe it or not, it was mainly a demand of the elite of the game. They got bored b/c they knew all the QM maps. More QM maps means more variety. In RA2, the system is more complex. Random supers, maps with no AvS, at higher rankings boring maps cannot be played, etc. Those things should also be for YR, IMO. The best thing of all is that for RA2 an official patch exists (it's not required though to play online) that adds 50+ maps, most high quality. 2 of my maps are in the patch, so you can know that's awesome:p.
Conclusion: if you really wanna focus on QM, better play RA2. If you rather wanna play YR, do Clan Match or custom match. But IMO, the "QM innovation" (that's the real name of the project) was a great idea. Just get used to it.

Zanaso, the other player might not have been suffering the same difficulty because he might have known the map better. But OTOH knowing there are derricks in the middle of Soverign Land isn't that difficult.

One thing that hurts playing against really good players is they know intricate details of the common maps, such as exactly where on the cliffs of Heck you need to place a building to stretch down and which places are such that if you put a building there you can't build the next one below the cliff. That's a big help in income.

First of all, almost the entire point of someone starting a new thread in a forum, no matter how you word the topic post, is to ask people thier opinion. If you are going to reject thier ideas simply because they are against you then don't expect to make any friends or get ANYTHING out of this forum. If YOU are going to flame everyone after asking that they NOT flame you, you will never make any friends on this forum, because unfortunately, we have all hit puberty already and have matured to a higher level of mental security.
