It took 2 hours and 30 minutes, but I beat it without cheats... yes, the game was just released 3 hours ago...

Overall, I love it. The demos and Garry's Mod... mods... don't give good service to the game... mainly because neither have the computer :p

Just beat it. The best 2-3 hours game ever.

And the best ending credits of any game ever concieved! :lol:

I also really love how everyone here is beating Portal before Episode 2 :p

Yeah everyone I know tried Portal before Ep 2 lol... That's great. Hope they add content or mapping support for Portal.

OMG the Challenge levels are so fun!

I've done the first three on time challenge, so far here are my results:
Level 1: 22 seconds (silver)
Level 2: 10 seconds (gold)
level 3: 1:29 (bronze)

If you're still stuck, on which level are you? I've completed the first five advanced levels now.

EDIT: Finished all six now! The last one was quite a tricky!

i finished the story mode. i dont know why people say it isnt worth the money. this was almost as good as half life itself! they shoulda stuck some dead bodies in the little escape zones, or live characters that have gone crazy.
but during the big escape at the end, there was too much of the same, too much hydrolic lifts and not enough variety.

great game though, shows what you can do with mods.

To play custom maps find your Portal directory (in your Steam folder) and save the .bpd to portal\maps. Start the game and go to the options menu and under advanced options enable the developer console. Open the console (default key is ` ) and type "map mapname" (in this case its "portal_playground_v1".

This map is just a large room with object spawns (boxes, turrets, even the rocket turret) to play around with. You can do fun stuff like this:

BPD? File format is different from rest of HL2 mods and games? I hope Valve officially release the SDK, love to make some maps for it.

Sorry, ".bsp"

I think its the same as regular Half-Life 2 maps, because people have imported HL2:Deathmatch maps into portal and gotten them to work.

Well - I haven't actually started any of the advanced levels or challenges yet, so I'll go do that right now! Then once that's done.. Time to sit and twiddle my thumbs as I've also just finnished Ep2. <3

Just got the Orange Box and the first game I played was...Peggle Extreme. :gnarly:
It was mainly just to pass the time until the others finished downloading, and it got me to Portal. Portal was pretty fun...until I got stuck in an area that doesn't really seem too easy on the person who's just started playing. Eventually, I just said "Screw it" and quit, mainly because I'm tired, had to put up with some of the biggest idiots in Halo: CE today, and I've got a headache.
Going to test out TF2 before going to sleep, though. Certainly hope it's got my style of play.

If anyone wants to help me, I'm in the room where there's the spinning secondary portal gun, the floor is electrified toxic stuff, and there's a button that opens a door to an energy orb that's bouncing in an area inaccessible with the portal gun a floor above me.
