Direct 3D Error

I have recently been getting the following error when trying to play CNC3. It typically occurs when I enter skirmish mode and start playing a map, about 5 seconds into the game starting it crashes, reverts back to windows and gives me the following message:

Direct 3D error 0x0887608ba (D3DERR_NOTAVAILABLE)
17 adresses:

It then gives 17 addresses most of them looking like this

(unknown)(0): cnc3game.dat and then a number

Does anyone know what is causing this and what I can do to fix it.

Is your game patched?

Do you have the latest drivers for your video card and motherboard?

Have you tried to 'reinstall' or 'repair' using setup.exe from the CNC3 DVD?

My game is patched with 1.08 and all drivers are up to date. I have not tried the repair function but i will and see if it works.

Try reinstalling or installing the latest direct X, i think its directX 9c atm for xp and directx 10 somthing for vista, but if you have vista, then your just ******ed, period.
