Hello! - I think this is an appropriate place to post my request.
I have an idea for a simple yet spectacular ZH mod map.
Attached is a rough sketch of what it would look like.
Due my own computer illiteracy and lack of time / motivation to dedicate to building this map... I ask someone from the C&C community to help out.
Would love to hear some replies!:wave:

Now, by defensive structure, you mean a Tech Artillery Platform, right?
Also, would you mind if I made a few additions to the concept? Nothing big, just a few extremely thin pathways along the sides of the main route.

Ok, sure. But, the main purpose of this map is to have large battles take place in the centre.... so, the majority of the terrain needs to be unpassable, except for the middle.
How long do you think it will take you? And can you please have AI enabled?

It'll probably take me a week or two, longer if I get distracted.
And about the AI...well, I never really got it working my maps, either, so I doubt I could get it working in this one. :\ Sorry.

firstly, i have to say, if you don't have to motivation to make good maps then don't get in to the buisness. I understand time can be a problem, but if you have the time, but not the will, don't expect someone else to make the map the way you want it for you.
Anyways, to enable AI (as I'm about 90% sure) you simply need to add each playable faction to the players list. I haven't specifically tested this yet, but i once added america to the factions list (on accident, for that matter) and got a response from the AI.
And i hate being the harsh critic, but having only one main entrance to the enemy's base, which will be extremely heavily defended, completely defeats the purpose of being a good tactician, so having small entrances to get around the defences is a crtitical element in keepeng strategy alive in a map.

As I said, this is a meat-grinder type of map.
Designed for fun - I recall having some spectacular c&c-tib/ra2 on left vs right mod maps. I simply want to re-create the same type of map for ZH and see how it pans out.
I have countless mod / official maps on my comp - if I want hardcore strategy I'll know which ones to play.
Anyways, I probably should have the motive to do it myself. But really, it would take a lot of effort on my behalf simply to learn how to use it. I'd have to spend hours reading/learning map tutorials simply so that I could build one ZH map....
So a very kind 16 yr old volunteered to do it for me! :DP.S - Don't underestimate the powerof hard AI - I've played maps where I've had a VERY solid defence (bunkers, gattling guns - and the equivalent with other factions) and the AI has completely destroyed them with long-range attacks in seconds.

It takes but 15 minutes to learn how to height brush and place civilian buildings. Seriously. Open the program, look in the toolbar, click height brush, play around with it, and then find place objects in the same toolbar. play with it, familiarize yourself with the 2 tools, and you are good to go with that map.
here, gimme bout 30 minutes and i'll have the map done. you can check the timestamps.

i don't have ZH, so it wouldn't work anyways.
just take about 30 mins out of your day, learn the tools real quick, and whip up the map just like that.
well, actually, i might reinstall it just for you. It's real late right now, so gimme till tomorrow and i'll ahve it done.

Here it is. If you don't know already, to use it, go to your documents folder, find your ZH data folder and put that entire folder in your maps folder.

Thanks so much for making.
One problem.... I put it in my doucments - zero hour folder. alongside my other mod maps. but it's not showing.
im using ZH 1.4 - i copied the folder as u said... ive played other mod maps before. I dont understand the problem.
are u sure file is right? its only 9kb. my other mod maps are much larger.
Any advice?FIXED! I opened the map using world builder, saved - and it works now.
I love it! It's great.
Only problem is I can't play with AI! =( The bots simply don't move.
Can you please add AI?

for the map to work, you have to give it a different name. The period in 'your map(.)by apple23.map' makes the game think that it has a different file expension in it, and dosen't read it.
And also, i guess i forgot to add AI. go into edit>edit teams (should be at the bottom) and click the button 'add skirmish players' That adds AI to the map.

And also BH, if you have worldbuilder (can't see why you wouldn't) just take out some start positions from the map and make whatever adjustments you see fit. I'm really busy with the new mod i'm starting on for generals and don't have the time to make changes to the map.
(speaking of the mod would anyone be interested in helping out? So far it's just me and a few personal friends)

I tried that. I clicked edit, edit teams - and a box came up with the title "Team builder" I looked around but could not see 'add skirmish players'
What should I do? EDIT: I now just clicked 'edit player list' and there it was - add skirmish players. now to test it... =)AI is a joke.
I versed them 1on1/2/3/4.
And even 4 against me was barely a challenge.
the AI are mildly retarded in this map. They a) don't utilize the $$$ on the map and b) DONT ATTACK ENOUGH.
They either build too few units or build lots of units but most don't even leave their base.
It sucks. =(
P.S Advanced ai mod made it slighlty more challenging, but it still needs a looot of work. And probably not from apple as your busy with the new mod.
I'll help by being a beta tester if you need one. Thanks for making this map. I''m looking forward to playing it with some friends, to bad the AI are awful.
